Frequently Asked Questions:

Q) What is the link to Kimchidvd?
A)Welcome to KIMCHI DVD
Q) I haven't mastered Korean yet - how can I read the site?!
A) Install Google translate on your browser:

Google Chrome HERE
Firefox HERE

Q) How do I register?
A) Turn on Google translate >> Login >> click on "If members to join ..." >> fill in EVERY box >>
click on this box to ensure your member ID is available:
rsz_button.jpg

You don't need to use Google Translate to register, provided you use the English registration link.
You need to enter both a Celluar phone (mobile) and Telephone number when registering/placing an order, however they can both be the same number (I don't have a home phone number, so always use my mobile number).
Numbers should be entered without a proceeding 0 and you do not need to enter your country code (KimchiDVD add it automatically to your parcel label).

So a UK phone (01452 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 1452 Phone Number : 123123

A UK mobile (07847 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 7847 Phone Number : 123123

If you have already registered, afterlogging in you can update your address/phone numbers here.

Q) Do they ship outside of Korea?
A) Yes, worldwide delivery, various shipping options available, for example to UK: (1 x steelbook)

K-Packet is tracked and one Steelbook to UK (with a weight of 450g - which is the typical weight for a lenticular) costs $10.81.
On average it takes around 7 days after dispatch to arrive in the UK - I always use K-Packet when placing orders and my orders have always arrived safely.

I'm not sure if it's insured or not (there's no mention) but assuming you pay via PayPal, their guarantee will cover you if you don't receive your order for some reason.

You can track your K-Packet order using this website, however tracking information isn't always accurate after leaving Korea (e.g. sometimes it doesn't update again before it's delivered, or even after if your postman doesn't bother getting a signature).

EMS $21.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)
TNT Premium $37.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)

Q) What form of packing do they use?
A) Cardboard Box, with enough bubblewrap to keep things safe, see below: (Thanks to SBC28 for pics)

A pretty sturdy box, which seemingly took some damage during shipping.
(These are pretty much always the same boxes.)

Enough space for the item to "breathe", but snug enough to stop it from moving.
(That white thing is the invoice, which i choose to include, since i am in the USA.)
kimchipackaging02.jpg

6 layers of bubble wrap.

Another shot of the bubble wrap, one sheet (4 layers) removed.

One minty mint SB, all the way from Korea.

Q) Is the retailer custom's friendly? (i.e will they mark as gift, or low value).
A) Very friendly, you have various options to choose from:
rsz_customs-kimchi.jpg

Q) Will the retailer charges upon order or upon shipment
A) You will be charged upon order

Q) What payment do they accept?
A) Card or Paypal

Q) Customer Services any good?
A) Yes - overall a very good, reliable site to order from.

Cancellations: Send an email to [email protected], including the number of the order you wish to cancel. He'll get back to you as soon as he can.

Replacements: are issued if in stock, if not a refund will be offered.
Refunds: They are normally processed within a few days.

My Amelie Steelbook has shipped on may 2 2014 with K-Pack ...
But the tracking still doesn't work ...anybody else with the same delay problem ?
same here:(

I received shipping emails for both Amelie and The Pianist (two seperate orders) and the tracking info for both still doesn't work. Amelie was shipped start of May as well. I just checked the status on the site and it says "Waiting for shipping" for both. Does that mean they haven't actually been sent?

Maybe Kimchi should consider combined shipping for seperate orders if stuff like this is going to happen.

If they upgrade their servers, the stuff would be gone in less than 5 minutes. Which would present another problem.

But obviously the setup they currently have is insufficient based on the rep that they have built.

I want to know, if in the order status there is write Receipt of order, mean all ok?

From what i've understood from the Rush thread, it is most likely that the order is on the system, so you have the copies reserved, but there's been an issue taking the payment.

email [email protected] with the order number(s) and what the problem is and they will help you sort it.

So I have emailed [email protected] twice already as my credit card was charged for the Tripack but it was apparently never shipped. I have still not received a response to my emails and it has been 3 days now... Any ideas on what I should try next? It's very frustrating but I have come to terms with the fact that I am most likely not getting the tripack. I am now just trying to at least get a refund... Any help is appreciated.

One man show business. So you have to be lucky in getting a quick response. If Zavvi did this there would be a massive bloodbath.

Pre-ordering is a joke. Went through the rush preorder today, logged in 5 min before, had the page up of the full slip steelbook. At preorder time got the item in my cart 1 min after, 6 min later got to the payment page, at 13 after finally went through and said item is out of stock. I am a collector not greedy just wanted 1 full slip to open and watch and couldn't even get that. I think they should have it set up so when its in your cart its yours and you have a time limit to pay for it say maybe 30 min to an hour before its taken out of your cart. Kinda like what amazon does with lightning deals. That way people can know once its in your cart its yours and not where whoever can connect quicker to Kimchi gets it.

Anybody got the same problem like me?
Wasnt able to order the Rush Steelbook and Pay with my Credit Card. Looks like a site error!! Didnt found the order button.

So i ve to use paypal :(

Amen. Totally agree with this.

i personally think that they won`t change a thing - they are selling their stuff and that`s all that counts-if not you, then someone else will get it.That`s the poor truth,Mate I read something about server upgade before Rush:D - and what happend? Nothing:angry:

People asking about how some people got through so easily. I use my work internet for these where possible. We have a dedicated 20 up, 20 down network and so the internet is unbreakable. Obviously, Kimchi's servers cause problems, but my connection is unbreakable.

It's definitely not your connection/speed. You would have gone through with a 1mb/1mb network. Its the server which Kimchi is using, it simply cannot handle it, as for the website in total. For normal order patterns and non-simultaneous customers, it will pass.

But when you stress it out a bit, Kimchidvd.com fails and breaks.

I tried 3x today, i even logged in at an half hour prior to release, refreshing every 10 minutes.

Even then i lost 3x consecutive times with an order (twice full-slip, once lenticular). FYI my connection speed is 120mbit/250mbit and kimchidvd.com failed 3 times at checkout. Leaving me totally annoyed and restless ;)

Simply said, kimchidvd's server just can't coop which simultaneous madness.

I think it is just luck, I didn't have much of a problem at all. I refreshed three times total and had a full & lenti in under 10 minutes. I feel bad for all the people who had such trouble.

Agreed with kaamelott words of wisdom.
Oh well as they say wish in one hand and poop in the other and see what fills up first:dunno:

Why not fly to Vegas and put a 1000 dollars on black 2. EEK! Instant win.

Ofcourse it's just a gamble, it just ''hurts'' i got 3 chances (full slip in my cart) and while i hit the pay button, my cart was empty. :(

I have a rather slow connection on my work (from where I ordered), but it wasn`t very difficult for me today to order everything I wanted. Perhaps it was my lucky day.

I have a problem with some quotes here about people who sell some copies at ebay to make money. I don`t support such ebay people. And I understand people who didn`t get a copy and are disappointed about that.

But here in the trade/sell thread I think there are a lot of editions for prices where I say that`s ridiculous.
These people want to make money too and most of them bought their stuff to normal prices at release. Trades are o.k.
But sells at sky high prices?

So whats the difference to the "scalpers" at ebay ?
