Frequently Asked Questions:

Q) What is the link to Kimchidvd?
A)Welcome to KIMCHI DVD
Q) I haven't mastered Korean yet - how can I read the site?!
A) Install Google translate on your browser:

Google Chrome HERE
Firefox HERE

Q) How do I register?
A) Turn on Google translate >> Login >> click on "If members to join ..." >> fill in EVERY box >>
click on this box to ensure your member ID is available:
rsz_button.jpg

You don't need to use Google Translate to register, provided you use the English registration link.
You need to enter both a Celluar phone (mobile) and Telephone number when registering/placing an order, however they can both be the same number (I don't have a home phone number, so always use my mobile number).
Numbers should be entered without a proceeding 0 and you do not need to enter your country code (KimchiDVD add it automatically to your parcel label).

So a UK phone (01452 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 1452 Phone Number : 123123

A UK mobile (07847 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 7847 Phone Number : 123123

If you have already registered, afterlogging in you can update your address/phone numbers here.

Q) Do they ship outside of Korea?
A) Yes, worldwide delivery, various shipping options available, for example to UK: (1 x steelbook)

K-Packet is tracked and one Steelbook to UK (with a weight of 450g - which is the typical weight for a lenticular) costs $10.81.
On average it takes around 7 days after dispatch to arrive in the UK - I always use K-Packet when placing orders and my orders have always arrived safely.

I'm not sure if it's insured or not (there's no mention) but assuming you pay via PayPal, their guarantee will cover you if you don't receive your order for some reason.

You can track your K-Packet order using this website, however tracking information isn't always accurate after leaving Korea (e.g. sometimes it doesn't update again before it's delivered, or even after if your postman doesn't bother getting a signature).

EMS $21.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)
TNT Premium $37.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)

Q) What form of packing do they use?
A) Cardboard Box, with enough bubblewrap to keep things safe, see below: (Thanks to SBC28 for pics)

A pretty sturdy box, which seemingly took some damage during shipping.
(These are pretty much always the same boxes.)

Enough space for the item to "breathe", but snug enough to stop it from moving.
(That white thing is the invoice, which i choose to include, since i am in the USA.)
kimchipackaging02.jpg

6 layers of bubble wrap.

Another shot of the bubble wrap, one sheet (4 layers) removed.

One minty mint SB, all the way from Korea.

Q) Is the retailer custom's friendly? (i.e will they mark as gift, or low value).
A) Very friendly, you have various options to choose from:
rsz_customs-kimchi.jpg

Q) Will the retailer charges upon order or upon shipment
A) You will be charged upon order

Q) What payment do they accept?
A) Card or Paypal

Q) Customer Services any good?
A) Yes - overall a very good, reliable site to order from.

Cancellations: Send an email to [email protected], including the number of the order you wish to cancel. He'll get back to you as soon as he can.

Replacements: are issued if in stock, if not a refund will be offered.
Refunds: They are normally processed within a few days.

I have a rather slow connection on my work (from where I ordered), but it wasn`t very difficult for me today to order everything I wanted. Perhaps it was my lucky day.

I have a problem with some quotes here about people who sell some copies at ebay to make money. I don`t support such ebay people. And I understand people who didn`t get a copy and are disappointed about that.

But here in the trade/sell thread I think there are a lot of editions for prices where I say that`s ridiculous.
These people want to make money too and most of them bought their stuff to normal prices at release. Trades are o.k.
But sells at sky high prices?

So whats the difference to the "scalpers" at ebay ?

Agree. I rephrase my previous statement, trading and/or selling at reasonable price is OK but yeah what's unacceptable is buying just to sell at sky high prices on ebay or this forum.

It`s perhaps not moral, but its a free market. If someone want to pay these extreme high prices then it`s worth for him/her. I am interested in a lot of beautiful editions, but when prices are too high I can`t afford them. I have to accept that. If nobody buys these expensive editions the seller has to stay sit on his stuff.

No difference what so ever, a scalper is a scalper, if anyone buys extra to trade and therefore stopping someone else getting a copy, its the same!

For people who couldn't get any edition, the only thing that will piss them off is if someone who got more than 1 copy posting it for sale on the sale/trade section of HDN. I mean if intention was to sell the spare copy from the time you ordered then why even bother.

You're absolutely right. But unfortunately there is a significant number of members here whose idea of "collecting" is buying several copies of low print run steelbooks at retail to then sell on at massive profits. Whether its on ebay or in the trade pages its still profiteering pure and simple. Its behaviour like that that will kill the steelbook hobby and not large print runs as some people suggest. If something is of superior quality it will be sought after nomatter how big the print run.

Chill bud

It isn't what most people want or do, and it has happened since the beginning of collecting. The Steelbook collecting hobby is stronger now than it ever was and I hate to say but 'scalping' has played a part in that.

Be mindful that the people you are calling out are members on here and many since the forum started. Because they sell a spare doesn't make them bad people and nothing they are doing is illegal, so no need to be creating rifts between members in this close community. We are all here because we love collecting certain products and the fact we have different opinions is healthy as long as we can respect each other.

Try not to get too hung up on stuff like 'scalping' otherwise it will just ruin the fun of collecting for you. That isn't what anyone wants.

I love HDN and I understand what you are saying but my only problem is with people who intentionally buy second copy just to put it on sale/trade forum as "Incoming" (at a ridiculous price) as soon as they preorder.

On the hand there are many Ninjas who for example put there blufans extra for sale at a very good price or at cost which is a very good thing and I appreciate that. :scat:

I also think you have a good point. We all dislike a scalper and yet the same people who complain about them put 'spares' in the trade section at the same high price that a scalper lists them on ebay. It's one and the same to me. Don't get me wrong, I love this site and there are some good people on here who have helped me and helped others, but this is the way it is.

What's this talk about a premium membership? Any details on this?

A bad idea IMO suggested by some so that they can secure copies of exclusives before they go on sale. I have many premium memberships on me. They are meant to provide extra services and discounts. No other retailer does this. It would be a slippery slope if they did this as it would mean so many customers would be cut off. Anyway my major gripe was that this creates 2 tiers of buyers. For example, my prime membership offers extra services. Exclusives are fair game to all customers. The premise behind this idea is botched in my opinion

One man show business. So you have to be lucky in getting a quick response. If Zavvi did this there would be a massive bloodbath.

As long as Zavvi is a bottom feeder with an extensive history of: poor customer service, inferior releases, jiffy bags, cheap flimsy boxes, and damaged steelbooks the bloodbath will continue. :p

they dont have to pay ebay fees and demand payment as gift, so technically they are even worse ;)

Anybody got the same problem like me?
Wasnt able to order the Rush Steelbook and Pay with my Credit Card. Looks like a site error!! Didnt found the order button.

So i ve to use paypal :(

I learnt my lesson after a previous pre order and I never use card payment now. Too much to go wrong. I always now use paypal for kimchi.

Amazing that a one man show can sell out a title in 30 minutes and ship each one individually bubblewrapped and not have one dent.

Wake me up when zavvi sells out an entire 3500 run worth losing sleep over and gets every single one of them shipped in bubblwrap undamaged to collectors around the world.

Until then zavvi isn't even in the same league and they are a huge corporation with many employees and are still getting beat by Tony and his small staff.

I think it is worse personally. I expect a scalper to try and rip me off, I don't expect a fellow collector and member of HDN to do it. It's one of the reasons why I generally avoid the trade section. Of course there are plenty of people ready to help out with group buys and such, but when it comes to OOP titles prices are inflated to silly levels. As someone said above, it is cheaper to sell here as sellers can avoid fees and it's also safer for buyers and sellers. You would think that would lead to lower prices, but unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case :(

think so, too. It's almost like lying to your own grandparents and completely lacks sense of 'community'!

Actions speak louder than words. Kimchi should stop with the empty promises and actually take the necessary steps to resolve the issue. Then again, until customers hit them where it hurts, there is no incentive for them to actually sort the problem. It's going to cost them money and for no real gain since their exclusives are still selling out in record time.

Zavvi charge 99p for shipping worldwide, so it would be asking a lot for their international customers to expect a bigger box and bubble wrap. If they charged $11, upto $25, like Kimchi then maybe.

Rush kinchidvd is underestimated due to UK release.

initially people said pass for me and satisfied with UK or IT.

so I thiught it will not be sold out quickly. But I'm wrong.

after package shot revealed, people rushed to pre order stage.

Kimchidvd did not know how fast this sell out

I think next underestimated is memento.

Please next time, limit the order to 1 of each edition. I'm sure kimchi will sell all the copies and it'll avoid the scalpers.
