Frequently Asked Questions:

Q) What is the link to Kimchidvd?
A)Welcome to KIMCHI DVD
Q) I haven't mastered Korean yet - how can I read the site?!
A) Install Google translate on your browser:

Google Chrome HERE
Firefox HERE

Q) How do I register?
A) Turn on Google translate >> Login >> click on "If members to join ..." >> fill in EVERY box >>
click on this box to ensure your member ID is available:
rsz_button.jpg

You don't need to use Google Translate to register, provided you use the English registration link.
You need to enter both a Celluar phone (mobile) and Telephone number when registering/placing an order, however they can both be the same number (I don't have a home phone number, so always use my mobile number).
Numbers should be entered without a proceeding 0 and you do not need to enter your country code (KimchiDVD add it automatically to your parcel label).

So a UK phone (01452 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 1452 Phone Number : 123123

A UK mobile (07847 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 7847 Phone Number : 123123

If you have already registered, afterlogging in you can update your address/phone numbers here.

Q) Do they ship outside of Korea?
A) Yes, worldwide delivery, various shipping options available, for example to UK: (1 x steelbook)

K-Packet is tracked and one Steelbook to UK (with a weight of 450g - which is the typical weight for a lenticular) costs $10.81.
On average it takes around 7 days after dispatch to arrive in the UK - I always use K-Packet when placing orders and my orders have always arrived safely.

I'm not sure if it's insured or not (there's no mention) but assuming you pay via PayPal, their guarantee will cover you if you don't receive your order for some reason.

You can track your K-Packet order using this website, however tracking information isn't always accurate after leaving Korea (e.g. sometimes it doesn't update again before it's delivered, or even after if your postman doesn't bother getting a signature).

EMS $21.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)
TNT Premium $37.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)

Q) What form of packing do they use?
A) Cardboard Box, with enough bubblewrap to keep things safe, see below: (Thanks to SBC28 for pics)

A pretty sturdy box, which seemingly took some damage during shipping.
(These are pretty much always the same boxes.)

Enough space for the item to "breathe", but snug enough to stop it from moving.
(That white thing is the invoice, which i choose to include, since i am in the USA.)

6 layers of bubble wrap.

Another shot of the bubble wrap, one sheet (4 layers) removed.

One minty mint SB, all the way from Korea.

Q) Is the retailer custom's friendly? (i.e will they mark as gift, or low value).
A) Very friendly, you have various options to choose from:

Q) Will the retailer charges upon order or upon shipment
A) You will be charged upon order

Q) What payment do they accept?
A) Card or Paypal

Q) Customer Services any good?
A) Yes - overall a very good, reliable site to order from.

Cancellations: Send an email to [email protected], including the number of the order you wish to cancel. He'll get back to you as soon as he can.

Replacements: are issued if in stock, if not a refund will be offered.
Refunds: They are normally processed within a few days.

Well it's been 24hrs since I sent payment via paypal and still no update. A bit concerned now since others are getting the Payment Completed status in there accounts.

I always pay with PayPal and have never had a problem or cancellation. It seems the problems and confusion arises from other types of payments and/or ability to pay when the order is placed. Familiar names in the various payment, order threads, of various eTailers. :p

Not to mention the administrative issues/delays caused by individuals selecting card or wire transfer (by mistake, or otherwise) and then subsequently paying by PayPal instead.

I've learnt a lesson in the past when it comes a Kimchi go-live, always pay with PayPal. It's far quicker to check out

If it's an ordinary order, with CC...

Just got my payment submitted to Kimchi, hopefully everything goes OK through their end - followed up via e-mail with my order#, paypal account, transaction ID, etc

Payment Completed per Kimchidvd

I emailed Tony and Bruce the following details

Order No.

Amount

your paypal account

Transaction ID

my order is secured :oohyeah:

Yeah, I made the "mistake" of selecting Credit Card instead of Paypal upon checkout. And when I clicked on the confirm button, it took me right back to the home page and emptied my cart with no pop-up notification as to what happened. Not happy. :(

But after the stress of trying to order both Kimchi versions of Rush on their website, perhaps I should consider collecting something more simple, like snow globes. Maybe start a new thread on here for reformed steelbook collectors who gave up the stressful hobby for a more relaxed one? ;)

(Who am I kidding, I love my steels.) :D

Just checked my account again and nothings changed. Paid thru paypal 2 days ago and I replied back to Bruce and Tony with the correct information. Not sure if they got it or they're just too busy...

Out of all the pre orders I've done in the past this one took the cake. But I do see my account updated to "Payment Completed" status. Ordered the full slip over the lenticular...

Can an experienced Kimchi-buying UK ninja let me know roughly how long you have to wait from shipping to delivery please?

I always go K-Packet and anything from 2 weeks to a month, normally its nearer the 2 weeks, Frozen took the longest ever to arrive.

I ordered Leon Steelbook Plain Edition from them using K-Packet
I got email notice of been shipped today

Tracking
I clicked and its comes up as EMS Track/Confirm
Delivery Status for your EMS
Your item number RE************KR is not found

Is this normal to see EMS Track/Confirm
I ordered using K-Packet but when you click the tracking number it shows EMS Track/Confirm
Delivery Status for your EMS

How long does it take to show tracking info from when you get shipping notice

That is normal. Tracking occurs in 2 phases. Tracked in Korea, then via your local postal service once it has been received in your country. Tracking in Korea is usually up to date until it leaves the nation. I suggest checking tracking number with your local postal service as it will start updating with them as soon as it is scanned in their system

I know it has nothing to do with kimchi, but my order for the pianist took only 4 days to go from Korea to Chicago,il. Now it's been sitting for 5 days at the us international post office and finally moved today and Chicago is only 5-6 hour drive for me. Anybody else in the us having the same issue with the us post office?

Mine did the same. 4 days to go from Korea to NYC, where it sat for five days and just this morning arrived in my local area. Hope that means I get it Tuesday.

Excellent service from Tony.

Sending a replacement The Pianist steelbook to replace my dented & scratched one.

Also some extra empty slip covers to replace my dented ones, if they're available.

Only problem is it took a week for a reply but other than that he has been very helpful.
