Frequently Asked Questions:

Q) What is the link to Kimchidvd?
A)Welcome to KIMCHI DVD
Q) I haven't mastered Korean yet - how can I read the site?!
A) Install Google translate on your browser:

Google Chrome HERE
Firefox HERE

Q) How do I register?
A) Turn on Google translate >> Login >> click on "If members to join ..." >> fill in EVERY box >>
click on this box to ensure your member ID is available:
rsz_button.jpg

You don't need to use Google Translate to register, provided you use the English registration link.
You need to enter both a Celluar phone (mobile) and Telephone number when registering/placing an order, however they can both be the same number (I don't have a home phone number, so always use my mobile number).
Numbers should be entered without a proceeding 0 and you do not need to enter your country code (KimchiDVD add it automatically to your parcel label).

So a UK phone (01452 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 1452 Phone Number : 123123

A UK mobile (07847 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 7847 Phone Number : 123123

If you have already registered, afterlogging in you can update your address/phone numbers here.

Q) Do they ship outside of Korea?
A) Yes, worldwide delivery, various shipping options available, for example to UK: (1 x steelbook)

K-Packet is tracked and one Steelbook to UK (with a weight of 450g - which is the typical weight for a lenticular) costs $10.81.
On average it takes around 7 days after dispatch to arrive in the UK - I always use K-Packet when placing orders and my orders have always arrived safely.

I'm not sure if it's insured or not (there's no mention) but assuming you pay via PayPal, their guarantee will cover you if you don't receive your order for some reason.

You can track your K-Packet order using this website, however tracking information isn't always accurate after leaving Korea (e.g. sometimes it doesn't update again before it's delivered, or even after if your postman doesn't bother getting a signature).

EMS $21.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)
TNT Premium $37.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)

Q) What form of packing do they use?
A) Cardboard Box, with enough bubblewrap to keep things safe, see below: (Thanks to SBC28 for pics)

A pretty sturdy box, which seemingly took some damage during shipping.
(These are pretty much always the same boxes.)
kimchipackaging01.jpg

Enough space for the item to "breathe", but snug enough to stop it from moving.
(That white thing is the invoice, which i choose to include, since i am in the USA.)
kimchipackaging02.jpg

6 layers of bubble wrap.

Another shot of the bubble wrap, one sheet (4 layers) removed.

One minty mint SB, all the way from Korea.

Q) Is the retailer custom's friendly? (i.e will they mark as gift, or low value).
A) Very friendly, you have various options to choose from:
rsz_customs-kimchi.jpg

Q) Will the retailer charges upon order or upon shipment
A) You will be charged upon order

Q) What payment do they accept?
A) Card or Paypal

Q) Customer Services any good?
A) Yes - overall a very good, reliable site to order from.

Cancellations: Send an email to [email protected], including the number of the order you wish to cancel. He'll get back to you as soon as he can.

Replacements: are issued if in stock, if not a refund will be offered.
Refunds: They are normally processed within a few days.

I posted about a couple of issues I had with the way Kimchi had handled the initial pre-order. I never claimed entitlement, if you could point out where I said this rather than trying to tell me what I think, then please send them via PM (I will probably ignore it anyway). You posted in a condescending manner and gloated about how you had got what you wanted and basically didn't care about anyone else.

Apologies to those sick of reading this crap. This will be my last post on the subject.

You don't wanna go there. If you insist that I point them out, I will. So, you wanna go there? Don't try altering your post either, it'll show. You have a very interesting way of debating. Trying to accuse me of all these things. I know what I mean. It matters very little how people like you try to twist what I say.

"just like"... ;)

He was saying that Kimchi were acting like eBay scalpers not that he could buy a copy on eBay for the same price. I don't see how you could misinterpret that.

Actually, no, you couldn't. KimchiDVD was up front about lowering the price for the first batch, as an "early bird" pre-order promotion. They were also up front about setting the price back to it's original $44.99 for the second go around.

Zavvi had a price up for Aladdin, claimed it "sold out" - then put it back up for ordering, and raised the price a stupid amount.

If you think that's the same, something is seriously wrong with you.

I have a different opinion so something is seriously wrong with me? Oh dear. I'm simply stating that it is a possibility, the only difference being that Zavvi didn't inform anyone (hypothetically speaking).

I don't understand how anyone could possibly defend the price increase (IMO). All copies should be the same price as it's still a pre-order. If this so called 'promotional price' was supposed to be from 8th-10th then the remaining copies should have already been put up by now, especially considering it sold out in less than 2 hrs on the 8th.

To say that it was for those loyal enough to order straight away/get up early or stay up late is total rubbish. You can't expect everyone that would like to order it on the first day to be able to order within a 2hr time period. It should have been available for at least 24hrs at the promo price so everyone from all countries had a chance. Plus if it was limited to 1-2 per account of each version there would have been more to go around, meaning the pre-order being live for longer.

It has been handled poorly. I only hope KimchiDVD learn from this with the next release/s.

I only hope KimchiDVD will sell me one for the jacked up price of $44.99. :p

let me know when an eBay scalper is selling one for a price "that is just like" KimchiDVD. :p

Again he never said that. He said that Kimchi were scalping by raising the price of their products, just like some eBay members, not that the price would be similar to what eBay scalpers would charge.

Why do many ignore the fact that the price was always set at $44.99 from the very beginning. This was in the OP when Mehdi posted it. A certain amount was made available for early pre order at a discounted price of $41.99. Everyone knew this was the case. It seems based on how the initial pre order went, a change has been made to ensure as many get the opportunity to get a slip version of this.

Quite honestly all these complaints are just a case of sour grapes. YOU SNOOZE YOT LOSE If you sourced one during the initial pre order window...congrats. Either way I do not see how Kimchi has mishandled this at all. They were very clear from the beginning and on pre order day 1, there were plenty in the UK and Europe that got their orders in

They mishandled it by allowing people to order way more copies than necessary. As I stated previously, orders should have been limited to one copy of the quarter slip and three copies of the lenticular slip.

As for 'YOU SNOOZE YOT LOSE' (sic), well maybe you should empathise with those who didn't manage to pre-order one. Everyone knew the price was going to rise, but no-one expected the pre-order to sell out within a couple of hours which was no doubt down to the number of copies people were allowed to order.

i mean does no one think this is what a company is about ? damn, people move on... I didnt get my order in the first time but thats my lost !

its a shady practice to change prices and to state items are out of stock and such. But it is not illegal for a certain company to retain "x" amount of copies to be sold at a higher price. At least kimichi told us they were going to do so unlike other companies like zavvi...

its beating a dead horse over and over and over again. This is the reason why i miss out on updates because threads are only about print runs, prices and retailers now and not about the actual steelbook

This is a forum right and not a Steelbook Twitter feed? Just as you come here for updates about certain Steelbooks, I (and I assume many others) come here to have a discussion about Steelbooks too. Sometimes it drifts off topic and even gets out of hand occasionally, but that's the nature of a forum is it not? :dunno:

"Thank You Tony and KimchiDVD!"

It's great that Tony and KimchiDVD make an effort to release such great products, fairly priced, with careful detail to shipping and packing, that people are complaining that they are too successful, sellout "unexpectedly" before a crowd that doesn't want something till it's sold out.

Just think how fast these suckers would've sold out if it wasn't "mishandled", "handled poorly"...

I agree with this. Sometimes I think people using these threads as a Twitter feed for updates takes too much precedence over the truth that this is a discussion thread on a forum. Catering to that idea causes a lot of posts to get deleted that I think are all naturally part of the discussion of a steelbook release.

U guys can't be more naive and wrong. Increase price ?? Come on just read thread couple pages back . Just because u didn't thought pre order can go sell out thats quick doesn't mean is Kimchi fall. How many guys around the world set up they alarms to get a copy ? ( my gues more then 250 ) and they still miss and i fell really sorry for them . U are grown man start act like one i take responsibility for action s.

Everyone knew the order quantities for both the slip and lenticular versions. We all know that many order multiple(s) to sell on later and for trading purposes. Is it a surprise the initial offer sold out so quickly? IMO, NO. It is a sought after title so this was always bound to be a quick seller. As for empathizing for those who missed out, I quite don't see your reasoning as still has some 1500 or so more copies that will be made available. I will have empathy for those who find out about this after it is sold out because they were not part of the forum.

Yes it was a surprise that it sold out so quickly. T2, a much more popular film took months to sell out.

agreed, BUT in moderation.

and as far as the price goes, omfg it was stated literally 2 weeks ago how they were going to price it. The same damn thing happened with t2 and no ones whining or complaining about that.

GET OVER IT, we pay an extra $5 per steel (standard shipped) for an amazing steelbook which has been treated properly and will be shipped AND BOXED properly

So we are not allowed to express our disappointment and must simply 'get over it'?

"Thank You KimchiDVD, may I have another?"

Here's a title that has been floating around the $500+ mark in the reseller game, and Tony and KimchiDVD release this beauty that blows away the original, and people are dismayed that the original group, sold, uh... "briskly".

Tony, keep them BEAUTIFUL, AMAZING, FAIRLY PRICED, PROFESSIONALLY PACKED AND SHIPPIED KimchiDVD Exclusives coming!!!!! :oohyeah:

Were the previous T2 release(s) selling in the reseller market for $500+?

And... please, keep the disappointment coming and never get over it.

Maybe you guys can shame Tony into giving you a "hardship" discount, ya' never know. :dunno:

Don't know if it's been asked already, but I have limited internet time here at work so I cannot browse through the pages atm. Is it possible to change the shipping address after an order has been placed? I'm helping a few members out with the LGB, so I need to know if I can just order them separately to my address and then change it so they get shipped directly to fellow ninjas.
