Recently, there was a rumor which emerged indicating that famed developer, Hideo Kojima, would unveil a new PlayStation 3 exclusive at the upcoming gaming expo, Tokyo Game Show. The Metal Gear creator has all but ended the speculation regarding if the rumor was correct.

Kojima re-tweeted the following regarding the rumor about a possible PlayStation 3 exclusive from him:

I say it is just a rumour. I have no idea who made it up such a story.

Yesterday, it was believed that Kojima would be delivering a massive PlayStation 3 exclusive announcement at the Tokyo Game Show.

Kojima’s next project is sure a mystery, with him stating that Zone of The Enders 3 is on hold, and also teasing his secret “taboo” project.

Kojima set to announce PS3 exclusive at TGS???

Hideo Kojima is just a bit of a gaming legend.

The Metal Gear auteur not only revolutionised the stealth-action genre, but has also played a significant role in the success of Sony's gaming consoles.

So when CVG was told back at E3 that Kojima-san was readying the announcement of a major new PS3 exclusive for Tokyo Games Show, it's little wonder people got excited.

Kojima Productions poured a bit of cold water on our story, calling it 'just a rumour' (without a denial, we should add). But the studio hasn't exactly shied away from the speculation machine since then.

Konami's made sure that the world knows Kojima-san is "still working on Metal Gear Solid games", whilst the cheeky tease has himself reportedly Tweeted this week:

'Now is a good time to talk about a secret.'

Now. Tokyo Games Show now. The smart money's on an announcement any time soon. But what exactly is Kojima's secret? And will it be a PS3 exclusive? If so, what could he be readying?

METAL GEAR SOLID?

Naturally, most Kojima fans want his next title to be something Metal Gear related - even if they do poke fun at his regular faux-retirements from the series.

The latest Metal Gear Solid title, Peace Walker, went down a treat with both fans and critics - so much so that there has been
talk of a PS3 version of the game.

In a recent interview with Famitsu, Kojima's passion got the better of him and he spoke openly about his next project. While he didn't announce anything, he did narrow it down to either Metal Gear Solid 5 or an original game - saying that these were the only two choices he had in mind.

When Metal Gear Solid 4 was released as a PlayStation exclusive, Kojima extolled the virtues of the PS3 and regularly said that the game could only be created on Sony's powerhouse. Perhaps the same will be true of MGS5.

ZONE OF THE ENDERS?

Kojima pleased fans the world over last year by confirming that he had returned to the seemingly forgotten Zone of the Enders franchise - and that Z.O.E 3 was definitely coming out.

However, he crushed reignited passions in June this year - revealing that ZOE 3 had been pushed back to make way for a "taboo" title that "will be quite the problematic game".

But then, a month later, like the flirt he is, Kojima was back talking about ZOE. "My team and I want to develop a new ZOE But it turns out that Kojima Productions has limited resources in terms of teams and directors."

SOMETHING ELSE?

Kojima has also been linked to a new 'adventure' game which is being created in collaboration with Chiyomaru Shikura, the CEO of publisher 5pb. Could this be his "taboo" title?

The project was first teased in July, when it was in the early stages of development - which means it could potentially be ready for a public demo at this year's TGS.

With that said, we wouldn't be too shocked if Kojima dug deeper into his history and surprised us with a new Snatcher title. A new instalment in the cyberpunk-themed graphic adventure game is certainly well within the realm of possibility - especially when Hideo Kojima is overlord of that realm. Fans have been clamouring for a sequel ever since the original release on the MSX 2.

Anyone familiar with Hideo Kojima or his games will know that at times there is absolutely no rhyme or reason to him.

He is a riddle, wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a Japanese man obsessed with Hollywood, hide-and-seek and lengthy exposition.

Whatever he's got planned - if anything, of course - we're not going to have to wait too long to discover it .

Keep an eye on these here pages. If he announces something, we'll be the first to let you know. And we'll be every bit as excited as you...
