Zavvi print more copies than their warehouses can hold and collectors moan. Zavvi print a very reasonable (some might say insufficient) number of copies and the same collectors are moaning again

Warner releases "limited collector's editions" with print-runs of 150.000 (ben hur) or even 250.000 (sound of music), and i guess the usual disney amaray editions have print-runs of some million copies, it's correct from zavvi to call these titles limited.
well, they over-do it a bit by calling it "ultra limited", but considering the other two titles selling out within 5 days, and the popularity of disney steelbooks in general, i think even that is right somehow.

l4k is the standard print run for steels so far from limited

Limited runs are the 1k runs ES had or the 2k-3k runs Kimichi have.

Plus my gripe is at Zavvi making out like Dumbo would have the lowset print run yet, when it has the same print run as WWRR and dozens of other steels from around the world.

I agree that there are more scalpers now but I also know that there are more collecters now too. I believe that at this point we are talking about prices and values. Scalpers wouldn't be in business if there was no demand for steelbooks. There's is a larger demand then before. If your a new collecter just getting into the game then you'll probably be paying scalpers while you are playing catch up. The way I see it 4000 is still circulating, it just a matter of who your getting it from and how much it's going to cost you.

I am playing catch up your right about that, im having to buy steelbooks from scalpers for under retail or £1 above, and steelbooks that would of cost me £50+ last year im getting for under £30 even £20 now, i would never of thought i would of been able to get some of the steels i have now at such a low price on auction, just shows that you just have to look and wait and the steels you thought you would never own coz the price is so high have now plummeted down back to retail, only yesterday i got the play.com star trek 11 like new for under £20, would of cost me £50+ last year, it might not be disney but you dont get a much bigger franchise than star trek and even thats dropped in price by more than half for an open one. But then i probs do spend to much time watching auctions, but the bargains are there if you care to look :D

Since when is '4k the standard print run for steels'? It is the lowest print run for Steelbooks released anywhere except for Asia (where things are slightly different as we know). Unless you want to see these titles released all around the World, then this is the minimum amount needed for them to get produced. Zavvi said that these would have the lowest print run for Disney Classics yet, which was 5k (Aladdin and Wreck-It Ralph). So your gripe is with something you misunderstood.

Hey guys, fyi ES' 'Walking Dead' is 4K as remarked in the threads when they were posted-no surprise-a 'standard' print run. Smaller runs are typically allowed for emerging markets. Even Blufans releases have increased in qty from what they were, over time in response to the market, so please try to stay relative.....Amarays are produced in the 10's of 1000's-so 4K is still limited, considering worldwide production and exclusive art as of the time of its release....

I agree there are more collectors but at the same time the amount of collectors hasnt gone up as much the amount of steels being released, i know disney is popular but im betting half of these at least end up on the bay, theres no way most of these have gone to collectors that have bought 1 copy each, i would say its sold out MAINLY due to people ordering in bulk for resale and parly because its disney and collectors have grabbed a copy. No different to any other popular steel, junglebook and little mermaid havent sold out because the scalpers know theres no money in them because of the print run so they jump on the lower runs like this and thats why it sells out. You dont REALLY think this has sold out because collectors have bought most of them seriously? Well we will have to agree to disagree :scat::D

The Walt Disney classics have a huge following, the Best Buy releases/Diamond Editions were beautiful releases, of high quality, and beautiful finishes. Fantasia, when originally released was a disappointment as people were expecting The Sorcerer's Apprentice and classic Disney type characters throughout the film. It was a collection of animated interpretations of great works of Western classical music.

Lady and the Tramp was a beloved classic and should be in demand world-wide as the other Walt Disney classics.

My father took me to see all the Walt Disney classics when I was little. I thought they were new films. While watching Pinocchio at the theater, he knew before hand what would happen in some scenes. I couldn't figure out how he knew. I didn't believe him when he told me he saw it as a kid. I thought he was kidding, until he told me Walt believed in releasing his films to each new generation (and I figured making money rereleasing them). They were that beloved, that parents took their children to see the films they loved growing up and loved seeing them again with their children. The hand drawn and painted cells are works of art. The classic films are beautiful to watch and still hold up today.

Fantasia (1940)
Pinocchio (1940)
Dumbo (1941)
Bambi (1942)
Cinderella (1950)
Alice in Wonderland (1951)
Peter Pan (1953)
Lady and the Tramp (1955)
