I've never seen this movie, but I have a question about the title. It confuses me a little bit because it's a family movie. Doesn't 'tramp' mean a prostitute or something like that? I am almost sure I've heard something like ''She's such a tramp'' (or something similar) when someone was referring to a prostitute. Not sure though.

no, the story is basically about two lovers from 'different sides of the track'. one is from a well off background, another from the street (homeless). hence lady and the tramp.

Zavvi can't win.

People fail to realise that they can't please everyone, all the time. They've given us two great collections with some lovely steels in particular (Aladdin, Nemo), and it's not over yet. There's still plenty to come.

I don't know if any other UK retailer has the 'home of steelbookz' aura enough to pull off a Disney/Pixar collection, so appreciate that Zavvi are giving us one in the first place. Disney clearly trust them most.

No-ones forcing you to buy them. Right?

Well, it´s pretty obvious that they are not spending a great amount of time designing these releases, and maybe it´s just me, but their artwork choices seem pretty random half the time. They look decent as steelbooks if you don´t take the films themselves into account. They look good on the shelf. But there´s just so much material to choose from, which is why I keep getting surprised at what we end up with.

I honestly don´t see the point in choosing this cover over the simpler diamond edition cover that was posted earlier in this thread. I don´t see why you would take the most quiet iconic scene in the film and make it look like Noah´s ark by sticking all the characters on the front. Disney animation is just as much about the quieter moments, but the cover makes you forget that.

That said, I´m not complaining about the art style itself, just the composition.

btw, I haven´t received a single discount code/student discount offer from Zavvi, and I´ve bought a lot from them. What´s going on?

I can certainly see this selling out before Tuesday. Looking at the collection as a whole, this is probably my favourite so far, love the characters and colour :scat::LOL:

It's kind of entertaining watching grown adults make such a fuss over a Disney movie, especially when its target audience (children) could care less what these look like :D

As for the back... I find noisier backs only work well (most of the time, anyway) when it's a horizontal image from back to front (like Blufans' Oz for example). Otherwise, to an extent, no matter what you put back there seems out of place and/or redundant (like slamming two random movie posters together), just my OCD opinion.

Totally agree Feetz. A dinner table is a pretty lame thing to capture the over all tone of this movie though you gotta admit. I'd prefer something like the sparse Jungle Book steelbook back over a random picture of a table with food on it.

I am not even going to bother ordering this or any of the other Disney steelbooks. Content is not up to scratch and for some weird reason, every time I look at this steelbook art, I am reminded of Aladdin :hilarious: I could regret this decision down the line :ohno: More money saved for other worthwhile releases

"tramp" is an old slang for "hobo" or "bum" The sexually promiscuous definition has kinda overtaken it though.
True, but in this film it refers to both meanings. They make it very clear that Tramp has quite a history with female dogs "Let's see... there's been Lulu, and Trixie, and Fifi, and my sister Rosita Chiquita Juanita Chihuahua." Kids wouldn't necessarily pick up on it, but it's definitely there. Lady gets mad at him after she finds out about all the other girlfriends he's had: "Who is Trixie?!" and Tramp gets all flustered and starts fumbling his words trying to explain it to her.

So yes, Tramp is indeed a tramp in every sense of the word. It's Lady who shows him that it's worth it to settle down. He changes her world, she changes his.
