It is really really minimal and only noticeable if you shine light on it at a certain angle, though I may just be a bit too anal about this. :p

I just received my brand new, sealed Tales of Vesperia: Special Edition from eBay today but it wasn't mint as I hoped, probably because it was sent with a bubble mailer. There's a noticeable dent on the front-left of the steelbook, and a shrinkwrap tear on the bottom-left corner. Here are some pics:

There's also a small shrinkwrap tear on the back which I forgot to take a pic of. So what do you guys think? Should I return it or keep it? I paid $163 (ya I know, pretty expensive) for it, shipping included.

It happened when I got my Dead Island steel. it was dented (worse than yours, but still dented) so I contacted the seller and asked how we could rectify this. He scrounged up another steel and sent it to me.

So do what i did: contact the seller, and ask how you can come to an agreement on this matter. either 1) get him to send you a new steel or 2) Refund Some,if not all, of what you paid for it. You do have buyer protection when buying stuff from ebay, so if you feel that the discussion isn't going well with the seller, and you feel that you're being screwed - Have Ebay handle it. if some sellers refuse to talk with you, you can have the good folks at Ebay take over negotiations.

That's what I recommend. Having said that, there often is shipping damage but if you purchased a mint product - that's honestly what you should get, and it should be the seller's responsibility to make sure that happens. If you're not happy with something - complain. worst case scenario you get a 'No' (unless you're being a dick about it).

Thanks for the reply Liad, the seller told me I can return it if I wish (though I didn't get the chance to ask him yet if shipping is one him or me). I do like the idea of trading it for another copy (hopefully he does, but I'm wary, as this is pretty rare) or refunding some of what I paid. How much do you think is a fair amount to refund?

@Raptor, sorry that I didn't reply earlier, I was asleep :p. I just got a dented steelbook, so he sent me a new one so i'm not sure that he'd do the same here as it's a complete game from what I understood. Trading it for another copy would be preferable, so it would be great if he could send it to you, and once you confirmed that you got it - you'd send your copy back to him, not the other way around. He should trust you with this since you already 1) paid for it and 2) have been in contact with pictures of the game. hopefully you have good enough ebay feedback aswell. it's hard for you to assume he'll just scrounge up another copy until it's at your doorstep as it is rare, so I understand your skepticism.

A fair amount to refund is basically what you two agree to. some just like to have their shipping fees refunded, and some would like to refund half of their total investment.

My "The Darkness II Limited Edition" Asia-exclusive Steelbook arrived from Singapore today!

Here are a few pics in comparison to the European-exclusive:

No debossing on this Limited Edition version, but it does have a speckled-sparkle design to it, and the artwork is still awesome!!! Both of these are in 100% perfect condition, no dents/dings/scratches. :scat:

You paid that much and they sent it in a bubble wailer? EEK!

Tell me your ebay seller name so I can go club him over the head. :hilarious:

Got my Last Story Steelbook today...HMV packed it VERY nicely. Completely unscathed, perfect condition....and the game packaging itself was already pretty good as well.

This is an AMAZING Steelbook...highly detailed, great base texture....the characters are glossy/shiny, the debossed title is extremely detailed....and it has an "edged" border that matkes it appear like it's a stickerbook, but of course it's not...and of course, AWESOME interior artwork!!!!

Very much worth it if you collect G1 or video game Steelbooks in general...not sure how much stock there is of the Limited Edition, but it's worth a grab for sure....this is one of the higher quality, complete VG Steelbook releases in quite a while! It's also only the third video game Steelbook EVER to have an upside-down spine title (Saints Row The Third and Mass Effect Russia exclusive are the only ones so far I believe to have this as well). :oohyeah:

nice...i hope I get mine soon too since we are both in CA. This should go very well next to my Final Fantasy steelbook.

I don't think this is limited at all.

Yeah, it says limited, but everywhere still has it in stock, and they've made it in one of those Hanger boxes, which is always a sign that they want it to be stocked in store everywhere as well. If it hits £20 I'll buy it. If not, I'll live.

Bought an empty Xenoblade steelbook to go with my £10 controller bundle of the game yesterday, should have it in a few days.

The Marvel Steel is one of my favourites simply because of the artwork. :)
By the way, did you seal that FFXIII-2 Steelie by yourself?
