I never really liked the HDzeta one, for the money I just don't think it is worth it.
The new pop art one is ok, neither better or worse. I will continue to wait for a steelbook that has more traditional artwork.

The HD Zeta one is one of the best steelbooks I have ever come across. It's a work of art. Front back and inside scream class all over it...
The front of the HD Zeta is also embossed. It really is something you have see. Easily a contender for one of the finest steelbooks ever pressed.
The pop art scream "desperation". They are neither cool or smart. What they do say to me is "Lazy and cheap". There has been a few steelbooks I wanted but refused to buy because of these dire "pop art" covers. The best example was "The Day the Earth Stood Still". One of my favorite films but no way was I going near a steelbook with dire art work like that.
Rant over........ Taking the pills now.

Wow! Love the artwork, this will sit nicely next to my HDZeta edition. Do we know if Zavvi will get this?

Although not comparable to the iconic artwork used for the HDzeta release, this one certainly stands head and shoulders above the rest of the new Pop Art wave. Whereas the art for the other titles is abstract, the artist here has attempted to create a naturalistic image from the film itself, and has done a pretty good job in doing so.

It does, however, beg the question as to why it was even necessary to try, given the abundance of suitable material in the actual film. Steven Spielberg has stated that with Lawrence, the cinematography is such that you can freeze the film at any point and you will have an image that would be suitable for framing.

Sony really needs to do better with this title which must surely be the jewel in the crown of their extensive catalogue.

Would be nice if they are going to do pop art steel books to give buyers two choices. A pop art one and a normal movie poster one. That way everyone wins.
Or is that too obvious?

Id like to know if there is anything is written under the slip on the front. Perhaps the title? Or will it just be desert with no text?

Cool to see nice steelbooks comin in with nice price. Not like these over expensive steelbook. There is no way im gonna buy a steelbook at 50usd cost + shipping
Why would you assume that? The last PopArt wave steelbooks at U.S. Best Buys cost diddley squat!
They went for around $19.99 or less...
(mostly because nobody wanted them!) And if you look on ebay under steelbooks 'lowest price'- there are all the pop art steelbooks for '$9.99 or best offer'! (Along with Universal's 'Reel Heroes' steelbook atrocities).

I got the impression from his post, quoted below, that it was the HDzeta release that he was referring to as an expensive import that he wasn't prepared to spend money on, not these Pop Art titles.

Personally speaking, I'd rather pay more for a decent imported Steelbook than a poor local one, even if it is cheaper.

Thanks, @augustus. My apologies to @runk0002 for misunderstanding his post:notworthy:. Mea culpa! I thought he meant the pop arts steelbooks.
Geez, I keep misspelling it 'poo arts' or 'poop art' or 'pop tart'... Irony!

and had inside art...
probably this is the one that I hate the least in this wave, I like the color tone and its minimal... would've been better if it was gloss and came with inside art...

Inside art is really easy to do on your own. And actually I like a lot of the ones I do better!
My first one:
