Major update from Choi 7/13/2013: [Mod. Edit: PLEASE READ]

Today I officially announced the pre-order date & time for 2nd round
as I said before, Kimchi will fix pre-order date & time based on UK time zone.:scat:

London (United Kingdom - England) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 13:00:00 BST UTC+1 hour
Seoul (South Korea) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 21:00:00 KST UTC+9 hours
Vancouver (Canada - British Columbia) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 05:00:00 PDT UTC-7 hours
New York (U.S.A. - New York) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 08:00:00 EDT UTC-4 hours
Paris (France) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 14:00:00 CEST UTC+2 hours
Corresponding UTC (GMT) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 12:00:00

-1x copy per slipcover (2x copies for slipcover was sold out too fast like 7 min, That's why kimchi put more restriction for quarter slip release)
-5x copies per lenticular

here is technical problem solved so far

after you pay via paypal, you will automatically return to main page of kimchidvd and you can go to order page to check if your order is completed.

(previous kimchi, does not provide automatic payment completed by paypal, only kimchi handle one by one to complete order by manually matched with paypal transaction. it's kind of big burden and many problem happened)

and another announcement for shipping

Small packet is removed, K-packet applied for all of item sold in kimchidvd
K-packet is slightly expensive than small packet but there is lots of benefits

- Printed slip with tracking number
- End-to-End tracking with delivery confirmation (No lost shipment)
- Reasonable cost than EMS
- generally takes 5-15 days (EMS: 5-10 days, Small packet 15 -35 days)

but some member are curious why kimchidvd changed shipping method

From T2 kimchi release, Kimchi handled more than 1,000 box to ship out to post office KR, this is a big volume of post office KR to handle only for one store.

so post office does not allow kimchi to accept small packet any more :(
and asked kimchi to change K-packet rather than small packet due to too many package in one or two day.

after changed of k-packet, pack & shipping process is much more faster than small packet and very reliable shipping method in terms of tracking.

even now, some of member did not received T2 kimchi after shipping process done at 26th June because no tracking available for small packet.

1 or 2 steelbook for shipping charge between small packet & k-packet is only difference around 2$

please kindly understand kr post office policy for massive volume of shipment like over 1,000 boxes and more powerful tracking for lost shipment protection.

Thanks

Me, it bothers me that some people here have not had the chance to get at least one :(
He should have limited to one copy per issue for the first wave and a maximum of two copies for the second wave.
This is of course only my humble opinion

You all miss my point. It's the fact that Europeans had to be awake at 1/2/3 am to get this lower price for Le Grand Blue. Now for the next batch, they do adjust the time, but the price is increased. That doesn't feel right to me.

Your arguments would make sense for regular items (as mentioned in the "US retailers"-example), not for highly wanted, low printed collector items of which KimchiDVD already knows on forehand that they will be sold out.

I don't think I missed your point, I just think we have a difference in opinion, which is totally fine. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Best check with the bank manager to make sure the $8 isn't going to put you in the red!! :p

This change of price shouldn't be viewed as penalising the masses, but instead rewarding the early converters. It's a strategy that has been used by retailers for decades and is a nice way for a retailer to be able to reward their customers.

Not everyone can benefit from it unfortunately, but in the grand scheme of this collecting hobby it is a small token gesture from kimchi which I would say is very welcome.

If too many people complained about it then they would probably just start at the higher price in future. I'd prefer fellow ninjas could benefit from a discount if you ask me though ;) Especially if they've stayed up into the early hours to secure their copy

Usually I'd agree, but something like this, it's just not fair to offer a discounted price for those that can order at silly hours in the morning and for Kimchi to only offer up a fraction of the stock for sale. The Terminator 2 steel was handled much better, you had days to order at the lower price and was told when it would go up.

It's not about the money, it's the principle.

It doesnt matter what time it is theres always going to be countries that are going to be less better off than others in terms of the time difference. They are a Korean retailer so they must have looked at the volume of domestic orders in general per release versus international orders and made the call to accomodate their native country (9am Korean time), rather than push the release back to accomodate the rest of the world orders, which may only results in 20% - 25% of all orders normally....

Fair enough mate. I was only teasing about the monetary value.

It's a tough one when it comes to the time they set the product live as someone will always be disadvantaged by it, regardless of whether there is a discount or not. In this instance the carrot ($3 per item) they dangled in front of collectors seems to have worked in bringing them in earlier.

As long as it's a pre-order incentive then I personally don't feel there is an issue. If they sell out then miraculously have some stock appear on their ebay store at a higher price around release date, then I'd feel there was an issue ;)

Back to the Steelbook... worth every penny if you ask me. I was very impressed with their T2 exclusive and was never in any doubt that I wanted to support their exclusives going forward. Lots of people panic around delivery and customs but they package incredibly well and touch wood so far so good. Keep up the good work kimchi

I love how everyone has ignored the moderator.

Please post all Kimchi related debated in this thread: Kimchidvd

This thread here is for steel info only!!

This is about this steelbook...it's specifically about the second batch of this specific steelbook. This has nothing to do with general KimchiDVD feedback, it is only applicable to this product.

You seriously think the $3 dollar was the reason? I highly, highly doubt that. It's very much more so the low number, collecting part that makes it interesting for any collector to want to own it. KimchiDVD knows very well a release like this would sell out...the $3 discount therefore makes no sense to me whatsoever and only makes people upset who missed out the first time (most likely due to it going live in the middle of the night for Europeans).

i think i said this earlier but i was quite "merry" in the early hours of this morning :shots: so excuse me if i repeat myself ;) Kimchi has a quirk in their ordering process that counts orders placed into the cart but not completed for various reasons, so it may not have sold out or at least not as quickly as it looked at the time EEK! This was mentioned in the T2 thread, so there still may be a chance to get a copy or at the very least when the 2nd batch gets released. I was lucky enough to get a copy of both versions :D i can't wait to see them in the flesh :oohyeah:

Good theory, but I'm not so sure if that's the case; these two SteelBooks don't even come up when searching for Le Grand Bleu on KimchiDVD's Korean pages.

Placing an order at the Go Live -moment is always going to be inconvenient to a number of people in an international community. I went to bed, set my alarm before 3AM, placed my order, went back to sleep.

No complaints from me, this looks to be another stellar release from Kimchi! :scat:

Its a Korean steelbook and link went live in the morning of Korea. Dont see whats unfair about that.

KimchiDVD works very closely with HDN and even said "Thanks HDN" after the pre-orders were sold out. So I think it's fair to say KimchiDVD doesn't just aim for the Korean market with a release like this ;).

Is that because its out of stock and they have removed it from the search to stop giving people false hope though! Either way the lucky ones are truly lucky and those that arent have a second chance in a week or so

Is there any chance the quantity can be limited to 1 of each / 1 in total for this next batch? I think it will still sell out, but not so many will end up on eBay?

I get that but im pretty sure most pre orders go live in the morning of what ever country its being released in. I think whats fair is that every one thats viewed this forum had got a heads up to when this would go live. If a UK resident doesnt want it bad enough to stay awake until 1am to place an order then tough. Everyone cant be accommodated worldwide. Sometimes I feel like asking for fairness is a sometimes a way to ask to be spoon fed when it comes to a collecting hobby like this.

I missed out on this and am just happy to get a second chance as if they didnt stop the pre order deiscount all copies would have probably sold out in 2 more hours and gone to scalpers.

I stayed up till 1am and got one copy of each, thanks Kimchi !!! :D

No problem with the time I think as its 9am in Korea...

Round 2 still to come for everyone that missed out. Just be ready !! ;)

Quite annoyed I missed the lower early pre-order price as now I've got to pay an extra $3 for the BD plus an extra $2 for shipping. In the grand scheme of things I know this isn't a lot, but I just find it a tad on the cheeky side the additional cost.

IMO it should be one set pre-order price and no more

was up at 4am for work this morning and was shocked to see that all the pre-orders were snatched up, by flee-bayers no doubt. Im not going to pay £60+ for a copy on eBay. This has dented my enthusiasm for steelbooks slightly. All the time sellers allow buyers to buy multiple copies this will continue to happen.
