Am I the only one who knows about the Unicorn (good) / Devil (evil) dichotomy of characters in this ???

legend-1985-03-g.jpg

Apart from complaints about havin the Demon on the front, i really don't no WTF some of u are on about.... gutter minds perhaps ? :movie:

No problem IF it was darkness on the cover YES I have got a dirty mind. Also a theam in the movie is the corruption of Lilly and the lighths Darknes will go to to achive this.

It also looks in siluette like what thay show to Year 6's 11 to 12 years old in sex education. A wasted oppotunity I feel for something that should be outstanding.

Has the artwork been confirmed yet?.

I have the BBC 2 video recording somehere from when it first premiered in the late 80's one Christmas. I see where something unique and diffrent comes in NOT sticking with sameo sameo. I just dont connect the cover with the film:ohno:.

Well i guess we got the Steelbook version of a Rorsach psyc test goin on here...

I see an artistic ambiguous representation of the interplay between classical good & evil archetypes... While everyone else here sees an unusually strange & misshapen penis? o_O

...Well ok then i guess that means from a doctors perspective that u got bizarre mutant penises on the brain 24-7 :hilarious:

I wonder if the powers that be think the Demon is to "challenging" 2 be the main focus of the art?

They water down movies 4 max sales after all... Mbe they think hes 2 off putting 2 the regular Disney buyin consumer :movie:

I agree completely. When you boil the film down, it's about the eternal struggle between good and evil, the delicate balance between them, and how one cannot exist without the other. As The Darkness puts it : "What is light without dark?" What I like most about the art is how each motif uses the negative space of the other; they both interlock and are actually a part of their opposing image.

They need to use better Artwork that's from the Film

I guess this highlights that there are some vastly different trains of thought with regards to steelbook artwork. In an ideal world (read: one I know will never happen :p) I'd rather steels didn't have images from the film plastered all over them; that's what the films themselves are for, IMO. I much prefer representational imagery, personally, but to each their own.

As much as I love this movie I just can't bring myself to buy this abomination. It is just so damn ugly.

As much as I love and appreciate your mock-ups (they really are great), I have to disagree with you there. Now I don't think this is a perfect steel, in fact it's some way off, especially in execution which does come across somewhat as poor-man's-Mondo. But the concept I think is great.

How ya like that?

I think it's more visually striking as an image, certainly. I'm not convinced it has the same strength of concept, though.

I'd say it's saying the same thing, in a more muddled way, but with more panache.

So, I like it both more and less, I think?

No worries, I can see what you're trying to do. I definitely see that the FOX art lacks a real "WOW!" factor. It's artwork you sit and look at for a few minutes and then quietly appreciate the idea behind it (or perhaps not). Red and black compliment each other better than the red and white of the official steel, though they are hamstrung by sticking solely to the Darkness/unicorn images. I think if you could think of something else to do with the unicorn horn, you'd be onto a winner; at the moment it looks a just a little... plonked in the middle.

Also, it has been some time since I saw the film, and I'd forgotten how weird Darkness' face is. :hilarious:

I have for some reason or another not got this on blu ray yet even though I really like the film, just have not around to getting it.

This will be coming my way
