It has been said on previous pages (can't remember which ones exactly) that a batch of copies they were sent had damage on the cardboard slip so they returned them to the supplier. Emails were sent out to some people to say JSDVD should be getting more on the 2nd April. Yours may be part of this batch.

I got the following email from JSDVD today:

Dear Customer,
Recently, we found that British Customs attention Blu-ray parcels.
You may need to contact the Customs office.
Sorry for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.

So I'd be very careful if ordering steelbooks from them if you're in the UK, it sounds like they may have been found out and will now receive customs charges on all exports to the UK.

I've been saying for a long time that it does little good having these packages marked as 'gift' and low value when they're obviously examples of merchandise from a commercial retailer. All it's likely to do is make the package more suspicious to Customs and make it more likely to be inspected/impounded.

Factor in the gathering interest and trade in Asian steels, and it's only going to become more likely that orders from JSDVD will be subject to Customs charges. If that's a concern for people then they should perhaps consider only using companies like YesAsia, who are Customs-friendly thanks to their European shipping base.

Guys if you order more than one copy of this then because of the weight of the package I would think its more than likely to get nabbed by customs in the UK unfortunately!! My one copy from them got through no problem and my second is on route from yesasia.
I split my order of this version due to the weight and size of the item. Because I was certain that if I had 2 copy's coming from JSDVD in the same box customs would grab it.
Just an assumption but also I think customs are getting wise to this and I always ask JSDVD to mark my package as merchandise, value $20.00, not gift as it is very obvious by all the labels they put on the box that its from a merchant seller.

Just an assumption but it seems to be happening to multiple orders of this.

That's what I was saying earlier on the thread... This titles being flagged due to the weight and size I believe.

Well if they weren't before they are now.

What's annoying to me is that I never ask them to declare goods as gift but they keep doing it anyway. I think that as you say, it's going to be necessary to stress that instruction in future. Personally I'd rather pay a charge than have my packages seized and/or inspected.

Rob mate I totally agree!! I always thought anyway that marking the package as a gift is only going to red flag it to customs as its plainly obvious that its from a seller and not a (friend/family member). Plus with loads of these coming through customs at the same time you would have to be blind not to pick up on what's going on.

Anyway back on topic and sorry mods for all the chat about customs. ;)

Guys- just a quick question, do you go for ems or airmail? Also shall i get them to mark as merchandise?

Yes, EMS is safer due to the tracking option.

If you're in the UK however, I would NOT have the package marked as 'gift'. If you read back a few posts you'll see that UK Customs are wise to this and it's causing some real problems. My own shipment has been stuck in Customs for 10 days now and it can only be because JSDVD must have marked it as a gift package (which they now seem to do routinely for UK customers whether you ask for it or not!). I'd advise anyone to have their shipment declared as merchandise and perhaps mark the value down a bit. Declaring JSDVD packages as gifts right now is just asking for trouble.

I read the last few pages, thats why i thought id ask!
Its quite expensive though isn't it?
Don't you think, if it goes normal airmail, it may not attract customs?

You can ask JSDVD to mark down the value a bit and that should prevent it being too expensive.

And yes, you might avoid Customs with normal airmail, as packages are only checked randomly, unlike EMS shipments. It's really just down to luck then.

The whole customs thing is a lottery. If the package has the name of retailer clearly printed and marked as gift then it could cause a red flag. I won't be ordering with JSDVD any longer. I am happy to pay 20% VAT but not this stupid 13 GBP Parcel force handling fee. It is not like they are going to carry our package in a special container, wipe the dust of it and hand over to us in our bed. It is handled the same way as the normal packages. Maybe we should start a petition to increase the import limit from 15 to 100 GBP.

With kimchi, they send packages as if it was sent by individual as you don't see any company name printed on the package.

I think we should start a petition, but how many people would be need for this to take effect?
Isn't it in the thousands?
