Well out of luck with this one. 2 copies arrived damaged due to Amazon's crappy packaging, then 2 replacement copies arrived from Zavvi with slashed spines. Gonna have to be ebay at this rate. My most looked-forward to steel this year too. :(

Thats real bad luck :(

Open it pal asap....ive started opening a whole heap recently now that i have plastic sleeves but boy i tell u some titles which i bought which looked mint sealed....once unsealed a very different story....with these i am not even covered by the refund warranty as that has now become void. I would urge most collectors who collect to watch their movies whom i assume are the vast majority here do open when u can just to make sure there arent any imperfections.

Couldnt agree more. The amount of collectors who think they have sealed mint steels would be in for a major shock if they opened any...

Picked mine up from the PO today and am glad to see I dodged the spine slasher. I'm not usually a fan of the lenticular cards on front of steelbooks, but I really like it on this one. The colours or gorgeous too!

My copy arrived on Tuesday (pretty good delivery from Amazon as it was posted on Saturday evening and Im not a prime member, it was delivered with the free saver delivery so I was quite shocked to get it on Tuesday as I wasnt expecting it until at least Thursday)

What can I say...very nice looking steel, and the lenticular cover adds that extra touch to the design, very nice. As for the film, I missed it at the cinema so this was my first viewing, firstly it looks lovely, fantastic visuals and although I dont have a 3D setup Im guessing it will look very good viewed in 3D. As someone who has read the book however, there were some very obvious differences, and some of the more memorable moments from the book are missing
(No confrontation between the various religious leaders in the zoo, all fighting over which religion Pi is following, no eating turtles, no meeting of another castaway/conversation with Richard Parker during his spell of madness/blindness, far less island etc..) and strangely some others changed for no apparent reason (why the pointless love interest?? what happened to his friendship with his teacher??)
Not that this affected my enjoyment of the film, I still though it was a very good film....But as with the book, I got to the end and still didnt believe in God ;)

Got this in the mail today. Great looking steelbook. And the lenticular 3D card was a nice bonus as well, will look good on the shelf underneath my lenticular 3D posters of Nightmare Before Christmas and Street Fighter (the game)

I noticed the lenticular card had some strange marks. Some looks like traces of glue on the surface. I can't see it unless I hold it up to a light, but it's still annoying.

Managed to pick up the last one of these in my local hmv for £21.99, didn't even go in to town to buy it. Went in to get some paper for £2.99, came back with this!

Missed this in the cinema and watched it for the first time last night. Loved it. Wish I'd seen it in 3D. The steel book is beautiful. Fortunately I've no problems with the spine on mine. Seem to be an awful high incidence of this fault from what I read here.

Any Edinburgh ninjas can get the steelbook in Fopp in Rosé Street. They had a few copies when I was in there this evening.
