Living Down Under, Ask Me Anything!

Hi Monkey2005

In the world of Australia do you get the stupid cold calls PPI , accidents claims that we do in the U.K ?.If you do how do you get rid of them ?.
We do and I have found them to be worse here. The only solution is I don't have a home telephone!!!

As for 'chuggers' (charity muggers), I just ignore them as I walk past them

What is the average generally Aussie girl compared to the average general UK girl?

What sport do you find yourself watching more there (if you watch any at all).

Difficult one to answer regarding girls, as my wife is English, but Aussie women are pretty hot!!!

I still watch Manchester United, but I also tend to watch a lot of Rugby League. The Origin, 3 game series between New South Wales & Queensland is one of the fiercest sporting rivalries I have seen. While also being awesome games to watch.

Try and watch one of you haven't already @pdbluray

I love origin games, I personally support NSW, so thank god they have finally won a series. Only taken 8 years.

I support the Rabbitohs in the NRL mainly because of the Burgesses and Inglis (+Crowe helps).

Also love the super rugby union games this years final was great and nice to see Waratahs and Falou win it, Aus Rugby U needs all the help it can get at club level.

I'm glad you bumped this because I thought about this thread the other day when I met a middle-aged couple while walking my dog. My dog wasn't paying much attention to them so I said, "He's never met Australians before."

The man said, "Neither have I. I'm from the UK."

I fell over myself saying how embarrassed I was, how I thought I had a better ear for accents, etc. They were good sports and said I wasn't the first. He said I wouldn't be able to guess where the woman was from.

"I don't know what you're talking about," she said in an (fake) English accent that was very clear and enunciated. Of course I guessed somewhere in England. She was South African!

So I got both wrong. From now on I'm just going to ask :shy:

I have made similar mistakes. I have said to plenty is Aussies 'So where in the UK are you from' and they were born here!

The funny thing is Fosters isn't an Australian beer! I have never seen it on sale anywhere. I do live close to the XXXX brewery though and they have an awesome bar inside it. Also James Squire (great beer) have just opened a brewery/bar here in Brisbane.

Really ? here in Finland it's marketin as Aussie beer ? weird !
