I don't think it's too much of a coincidence tbh. I think Manta have just done exactly the same thing we did when looking at Paramount's available 4K titles, and chosen one that's likely to have the best response, with the least amount of sign-off push back from the studio and/or licensee stakeholders.

Nope, I stepped away from Manta (and FAC!) as they were taking a p!ss out of us, collectors by releasing empty cardboard slips with some paper cards and a steel worth 15$ and selling it for a kidney while we collectors have to by an amaray edition to at least have the movie itself....

Yeah I haven't supported a single one of those releases. Still tough to beat them on the releases that include the movie though.

It doesn't work that way bud. There's no outbidding. They're different regions, and different commercial agreements. He could still release if he wanted to, it would just be a case of putting out a competing product against a giant like manta.

This is so over the top. Manta have had nearly 80 releases (and I’m not even counting the WWA dress ups they originally had) and 6 of them are discless marvel films. Most steelbook collectors collect multiple steelbook releases/ premiums of the same films. If Blufans and Manta are no longer allowed to release Marvel films with discs but I already have the discs multiple times then why do I need them again? If I can get a premium of those films to add to the collection I’ve been collecting for 11 years for cheaper without the discs then it’s a win. Not saying I agree with discless releases but so far these have only been Marvel MCU films due to licensing and most of us already own the first wave of steels for them or mondo or premiums from other retailers or the zavvi re releases or the zavvi re re releases or the zavvi re re re releases with 4K…. Etc etc

How is this any different to collectors buying custom steelbooks? That come with shittier finishes or crappy wrap around sticker vinyl sheets

Also if you don’t own those discs then the money you save through Manta and Blufans with the discless releases is surely near enough the same price as the discs to buy in your local region to pop in. You save $30 on blufans discless releases compared to normal and nearly $20 with Manta

Gutted for both Dan and myself tbh lol. I would've been all over it! Looking back at how well Lone Survivor turned out hasn't helped either... it's convinced me Dan would've done TTS soooo much better justice than Manta will ever do. Tough business for sure, and I always hate to see the little guy getting shat on.

Yeah, it's a massive shame. He could still do it if he wanted too, but it just seems kinda futile now. It's a different region, so it won't be the same guys in change of it all, but that doesn't make it sting any less.

Yeah he's just explained that to me. Nice to know the option to go ahead with it is still there I guess, but can understand why he's hesitant now. Truly gutted for him

I can understand his reluctance given what's happened but is there really an issue with a (presumably) small print run if it's the only one in this region?

Everyone is gutted about the 2nd release and I'm over here gutted to be the lone survivor who hasn't received the 1st release yet.
