I dislike the mondo one personally, yet love this. That's the good thing about multiple releases, we can pick and choose the one(s) we like best.

Very true. But I like Film Arena so much, I just really wanted this to be the perfect (for me) version of Looper, the one that would trump them all.

That's what I meant! Thanks!
(Of course, that means it is embossed on the inside! So I'm kinda not wrong!)
On that thought- is it true that Transcendence (German) is the only steelbook that is embossed on the outside without being debossed on the inside? I heard that somewhere....

Based on ricster's pictures in that topic it looks like there's some debossing on the inside for the outside embossing. It's uncommon to see embossing without a border though (the only other one that comes to mind off the top of my head is Hunger Games District 12 Edition from Canada).

I did like whiplash but I get what you mean, but what I liked about it is that It reminded me of the firsts FAC (AASB, DU, TMR, EQ) due to its simplicity and its format of the first 4 FAC packages.... But for me Too Many Arnold Old Movies to my liking, Ghost Rider(not my thing), JW I just was expecting something nicer, Birdman not a movie for me even though looks like a great Package 3 variants. But I am Happy for Those who like them and it gave my wallet a little break... But I was not expecting to like as much LOOPER Oh My this is just too nice

Which release by FA where you lot most dissapointed with this year ? I think it has to be Whiplash for me. Lack of goodies, including a most welcomed lenticular and a pretty bland slipcover considering the actual steelbook already shows an instrument (would of preferred characters on the full slip).

Other than that, it's always a safe bet putting your name down in the GB for FA releases.

As much as I love Filmarena, I think some of the very first releases which didn't include so many goodies are the most disappointing ones as a whole, but some had absolutely stunning fullslips like Dracula Untold, which is even today one of their best. Absolutely stunning! Then releases like Equalizer, well I never really liked the package that much, even though movie is good.

Now the most impressive package for me has to be Ex_Machina, I'm really looking forward to it.

I agree I dislike Mondo Releases (at the exception of Dredd)

Looper Mondo ''dislike'' is a word that would describe it well for me too
and you said the rest so well, wonderful things about multiple releases

Hunger Games D12 has a border. Nothing is raised higher than the edges of the steelbook, except for the slight outwards bulge caused by the thinness of the metal.

Transcendence is not embossed. The head and part of the neck is debossed, leaving the wires attached to the skull on the same level as the rest of the front cover surface, giving the appearance and feel of embossed detail.

Agreed. Apart from Dredd hated every single overrated Mondo steelbook.

If you want to be completely pedantic obviously it has to have some kind of imprint you could call a border else it'd be a flat surface.
What I meant by 'no border' is that there's no outer 'frame' like on just about every other embossed steelbook. To me it also looks/feels like the leaves on the logo are slightly raised above the surface, but it is minor.
I think the artwork is pretty underwhelming. The artwork from the poster included would have looked great on the slip:

Personally, while I like the artwork on the poster I don't think it would complement the steelbook so well if they'd used it for the slip; whereas I think the artwork chosen does.
If the Steelbook had been a dark colour then sure, that artwork could have gone pretty nicely.

I think they made the right decision just including it as a poster instead; but that's just my opinion.

Personally I much prefer the slip as-is, I think it matches the Steelbook artwork. If the Steelbook had been black or something then sure, that might have worked. But, that's just my opinion.

I agree, fullslip matches with the steelbook and rest of the stuff. Filmarena have chosen to use both Bruce and Joseph on every part of the package. If it were black or other darker coloured steelbook, snooloui's poster artwork would look very nice on fullslip. I personally would have liked to see Emily Blunt, I absolutely love her

I would rather have had something a little different, the artwork is all very similar. I like both actors but there are other characters and images from the film that could have featured more prominently.

...the love of a woman must not interfere in the affairs of steelbook art...
:hilarious:
