Bought this in CEX yesterday - wasn't too sure about it either as a film or steelbook, but thought I'd take a punt. The slipcover isn't perfect and the steelbook has a couple of minor scratches but nothing too obvious.

They probably only got a £10 for it and paid £25 a few weeks ago. It's not as if they didn't know Steelbooks are collectors items, who buys something from Zavvi by accident? So weird, but a great bargain nonetheless

Yeah, I think it's been said before that CEX don't distinguish between a steelbook or an Amaray (in fact there was an Amaray next to this on the shelf and both were £15), so £10 sounds about right for their buy it price. I suppose it's possible whoever bought it from Zavvi just didn't like the film and figured the quickest and easiest way to get something back was sell it to CEX rather than the hassle of listing it on ebay. Either way, I'm glad they did!

That makes no sense. The % increase from £26-£35 and £35-£40 is irrelevant, the fact is that £35-£40 is more than £26-£35.
I'm talking about a price increase, it doesn't matter the starting price; 35% is far more than 12%, that makes a lot of sense.
Of course 40£ is more than 35£, as a final price, as well as 35£ is more than 26£, as starting price, but the price increase is relevant too

Zavvi probably held back some stock for CEX!!!!

On the subject, that CEX doesn't distinguish between Amaray and Steelbooks, they did with HMV'S DRIVE. Anytime I saw one of those in CEX it was always way above the amaray version price.

Well yes, of course that percentage is higher, but the increase from £25-£40 is much larger and that is what it was selling for, so your 35% increase is less, which goes without saying. So yes, your point is irrelevant.

Fair point - yes, I too have seen a copy of Drive in a CEX, but I wasn't prepared to pony up the price they were asking.

No kidding!

Methinks the person had to sell it quickly for some cash to pay for their dinner that night.

This steelbook collecting can certainly drain your bank account. ;)
Most CEX clientele appear to be after some cash to pay for their fix that night

Seen it in the cinema and enjoyed it, an because I didn't get pre ordering it I bought one off eBay this morning for £32.50. This steelbook collecting is too bloody addictive, isn't it?! That's £110 I've now spent on them this past week!

I think it depends on the branch. A few months ago i picked up the Captain American HMV steelbook for £8. SO yeah, i think it depend on the branch and whether the staff are clued in to steelbooks at all.
