According to Ars Technica, San Francisco resident Gregory Giusti used magicJack, a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) provider, to make 48 harassing phone calls to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's California home, her Washington DC home, her San Francisco office and her husband's California office. The calls began on February 6th and continued until March 25th. In a sworn FBI affidavit (.PDF), Pelosi said the caller told her she wouldn't have a home to come back to if she voted for health care reform, among other things that were so awful she didn't want to repeat them to investigators.

Not only did he threaten Pelosi, but Giusti taunted her staff, saying, "This number is, and the number I'm calling from is, untraceable so if you're trying to trace it, have fun." Turns out, it wasn't. The FBI and Capitol police traced the number to a magicJack account in California. Giusti was smart enough to list another name and address on the account. However, he listed a man who he attended church with a few years back. The unnamed man recognized Giusti's voice from police tapes and identified him. Giusti, in typical dumb criminal style, denied being the caller until authorities called the number in question and Giusti answered -- while the cops were still in his house.

Now, Giusti is staring at two years in prison and a fine up to $250,000. Not to mention being known as the worst anonymous caller in the entire world.

:hilarious: this is hilarious!
