Love this one. Missed the post at first due to everyone complaining about all of the new Pop Art steelbooks :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Spooky ghost ship style, majestic, imposing and elegant artwork marred somewhat by the front title . . . in this case steelbook would have looked better with just the art and no text (IMO) . . . with title on the spine only.

Fresh art for the steelbook - all atmospheric fog/mist-shrouded and different enough from the original posters - despite the vaguely similar colouring - those original posters looking more like prints lifted from antique volumes (complete with foxing).

Very much getting a Turner vibe with this art even without the beautiful colours that defined this, his most recognisable painting, "The Fighting Temeraire" from 1839.

A full-size animatronic HMS Surprise is mounted on gimbals in the ocean-side tank at Fox's Baja studio. This is the same tank where much of Titanic was shot. The Rose doubled for the Surprise at sea.

In these images, the 4-oar cutter is the boat on the right, and the 6-oar launch is at center. These boats are Russian Navy yawls and are now part of Boat Base Monterey. The cutter was formerly with the Admiral Nevel'skoi Maritime Academy (Vladivostok).
The launch was formerly with the Naval Engineering Institute (St. Petersburg).
The gig at the left formerly served as quarter boat for the Nautical Heritage Society's Californian.

The images are reminiscent of Geoff Hunt's cover paintings for the Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey / Maturin novels.

With this one a lot depends on the finish. If it ends up bare metal or something then it'll be dead in the water...

...see what I did there :p:D
Oh man, I hadn't considered that... this will look horrendous if it's bare metal. With such dull colours it'll also look flat as a pancake if it's matte, so gloss is the only way to go IMO.

I'm a fan. My old man keeps pestering me if I can get a steelbook so I can give him back his DVD copy haha.

I like the artwork. It feels matching to the film(ships in the fog). I'll probably get this one.
