Avi Arad Is producing. He's the CEO of Marvel and was a producer for Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk and The Amazing Spiderman and will be for future movies like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and 3.

Nothing else is known at this time.

I can barely contain my excitement for this....

I would love to see Snakes other missions.I don't see the need to follow the game, because we all know what's going to happen. i want something new.

!

Just read about this! I'm a MGS fan for life, so I couldn't be more psyched right now. I hope they get David Hayter (voice-actor for Snake and writer of the X-Men and Watchmen films) to pen the script. I'm going to the midnight opening and sneaking in with a cardboard box. I'll even drop porn to distract the teenagers so I can get to the front of the line. :hilarious:

I hope its awesome not getting my hopes up needs a great director and dunno who id pick for snake hope its set before metal gear solid maybe a combo if plots from mg 1 and 2 ;)

I always envisioned Hugh Jackman as Solid Snake. He just has the look. Not sure if he'd want to sign up to play a grisly warrior again in another franchise, though.

I'm really not worried about the film. Kojima's approving everything that happens by the sounds of it, so if it has his blessing, it definitely has mine. :)

Just read a new interview with Hideo Kojima regarding the MGS film. First off, he's announced that he won't have a hand in the directing or the writing, but he'll be overlooking the entire project as an advisor. Then he went on to say that the film's protagonist will be Solid Snake, not Big Boss, and that it'll take place during the modern age. Lastly, and this is why I quoted my last response, he said that his #1 pick for Solid Snake has always been Hugh Jackman, though after discussing everything with the film's producers, they're deciding to go with a more unknown actor instead. Personally, I hope this decision pans out for them because Jackman would've brought in the crowd probably more-so than a newcomer, but if the project's being overlooked by Kojima, so I feel confident that everything'll turn out great!

New information regarding the METAL GEAR SOLID film as a writer has officially signed on to the project!

British screenwriter Jay Basu (Monsters: Dark Continent; Universal's upcoming 'Universal Monsters' reboot) will be penning the script. Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer, Kong: Skull Island) will direct; Sony Pictures will distribute.

Hideo Kojima is Executive Producer on the film alongside Avi Arad and his son Ari. Kojima was previously eyeing Hugh Jackman for the role as Solid Snake, but he's no decided to go after an unknown actor instead (though don't be surprised if they go with Kiefer Sutherland considering he replaced David Hayter in MGS5).

Metal Gear Solid Movie Director Celebrates the Franchise’s Anniversary with New Line of Art
Source: DualShockers
On this day 31 years ago, the original Metal Gear released for the MSX2 and kickstarted what would become one of the most iconic franchises in gaming history.

To celebrate this milestone, Jordan Vogt-Roberts, the director of the upcoming Metal Gear Solid film, has decided to spend the next 31 days releasing art alongside “next-gen artists” based on Hideo Kojima’s iconic world. This art, however, is not reflective of the upcoming Metal Gear Solid movie and is instead just being referred to as “fan art” that is meant to honor the series.

Vogt-Roberts made this announcement this morning through his personal Twitter account but had a special Colonel relay the message with more specifics of this plan to celebrate Metal Gear’s 31st anniversary. Check out the video in the tweet below to see what I mean.
