I'm sure the image Zavvi are displaying is just a placeholder. Of course that doesn't mean that the Steelbook won't end up looking something like that, but hopefully it will end up looking a lot better.

I agree with you, but am curious as to why it was removed so quickly. There is no way this has sold out, unless there were only 100 copies available.:hilarious: I do hope that the final art is better, that will still not change my mind about the Zavvi version.

Yeah, if it really did sell out, then that was quick. Regardless, glad I got my order in right under the wire...

The Entertainment store pricing for Star Trek Into Darkness have now made this and the Iron Man 3 1 disc travesties even more of a rip-off. How come a small company like that can give us more for the same amount?

ES using worldwide releases with high print runs and just taking there batch out of it. gues this is much cheaper than creating your own exclusive steel.

Plus you can't compare any other studio to Disney. Their releases are always more expensive than the average release.

so Zavvi really wants us to believe that they are out of stock after 3 days of releasing the pre-order? It's been a week and they haven't put it back. Anyways, in going for the BluFans edition :)

But how/why are small companies or even forums allowed (or able) to have exclusive steelbooks? I mean, don't they need a license from the studio to even start such a thing? And why would Steelbook company sell anything to forums or small companies, if they can sell higher print runs to big companies like Amazon or Zavvi? I don't understand that.
Is hifdefninja able to get its own exclusive steelbook (like really exclusive, like the Lawrence of Arabia one)?

That would be cool :).

Quite frankly NO as with the 7 pshycos

But you need to respect the fact rasta that although it was Zavvi leftover once they got it and added there own stuff it was wicked yes

Quite frankly there is a ton of work that is done behind the scenes every day to try and bring an exclusive release to this forum, direct from a studio, so unless you know the facts, you shouldn't really comment further.

Unlike other forums, where they ask for members money up front, in order to fund their "exclusive" runs, we have been working on the assumption that we should do a run the "old fashion way" - with our own efforts, our own members, and...our own funds. :)

Movies like this should always be triple play,3D+2D+DVD,for the inflated prices being charged.I am tired of passing on UK steels and going international because of non 3D releases.Wake up Zavvi

The price point and content are set by Disney UK, not Zavvi.

New release Disney Blu-rays in Amaray packaging are expensive. Amazon have the single disc 'Iron Man 3' Amaray listed for £18.50, so you're paying £5.50 premium for the steelbook.

I see in the OP it says 'currently OOS'.

Has this been confirmed by Zavvi?

Seriously? After like 3 days?? Must've been the fastest sell-out ever.

I'd say the bolded bit is debatable, based on the fact that every Disney release from Zavvi so far has been at a different price point (from £14.99 to £16.99, then £17.99, then £22.99 and now £23.99).

Not to mention the fact that Zavvi initially sold Aladdin at £17.99 but then hiked the price on their own site and their ebay outlet store just before and after release.

I suspect Disney do have some say, as their releases tend to be a touch more expensive than regular films, but I'd also say that Zavvi could (and have) charge less. Plus, in terms of extras they are already out there (as you can get 3D etc in amaray form) so it would probably be down to Zavvi to decide whether to put those extras into a steelbook. That would probably cost them more (in terms of production) so that's probably why it hasn't happened.

Assuming Disney are the ones forcing Zavvi to charge what they do or skimp on features (when identical steels turn up in Europe with 3D, extras and so on) seems to be speculation. Still it's supply and demand, so as long as people are happy to pay a lot for bare bones Disney steels then Zavvi can keep producing just that. It's really that simple.

yes, its supply and demand.. why would they offer 4000 when they could sell 10000 and why would they charge 14,99 if they could sell it for 23,99 ?
