Here we go! The Super Bowl is over, every team is undefeated, and it's time to start looking at which rookies, coaches, and veteran players are going to what team. :movie: Let's start the 2011/2012 season!

Bad news for the Lions

Chiefs Swap Draft Picks With Tampering Lions
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell ruled on Friday that the Detroit Lions violated anti-tampering rules when they spoke publicly about wanting to sign players still under contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. The league announced the punishment for the Lions, which includes the Chiefs improving their position in April’s draft.

•The Lions will forfeit its seventh-round selection (acquired from the Denver Broncos) in the 2011 NFL Draft.
•The Chiefs and Lions will switch fifth-round selections in the 2011 Draft. As a result, the Chiefs now own the ninth selection and Detroit the 23rd selection in the fifth round.
•Either club may appeal the decision by advising Goodell in writing of its desire to do so by February 28.

I'm not sure how many of you follow the NFL during the off season, but over the past few weeks, the NFL and the Players Union have been in talks for a new Collective Barganing Agreement or business rules.

NFL.com and several sources on Twitter that are tied very closely to the talks are now reporting that the Players Union did not like the "final" offer from the owners, and have decided to decertify the Union. At midnight EST, the current CBA will expire and the owners will most likely "lock out" the players. The players will then counter with an anti-trust lawsuit headlined by some of the most recognized players, Brady, Manning, Breese, Vrabel, and others. All of these legal proceedings have to be completed before next season. Things aren't looking too good for the 2011-2012 season.

so will they even play the season? Will there be replacements??? I don't understand any of this ****, much like all politics. haha.

Anyhoo, tonight they will be releasing the 2011/2012 season schedule at 7 pm EST.

It's Draft Day! :scat:

Today could be one of the busiest days in NFL history. On Monday the judge ruling over the lockout lifted the lockout and said things should be business as usual. The owners then appealed and asked that the judge keep the lockout in place until the appeals court could make their decision, that got denied last night. This means that as of today, NFL teams could start trading and releasing players. Since this is the first time that the Draft has taken place before free agency, there could be a lot of transactions going on before the Draft kicks off tonight. There is a lot of potential for people to trade off players that they don't need or want (Colb, McNabb, Young, etc) and pick up a few more draft picks.

Round 1 of the Draft starts tonight, rounds 2 and 3 are tomorrow night, and rounds 4 through 7 are on Saturday. Feel free to let us all know what you think of your team's draft. :movie:

Other NFL news:
-Peyton Hillis of the Cleveland Browns is the face of Madden 12
-The Oakland Raiders changed the name of the Oakland Coliesum to Overstock.com Stadium. The Black Hole of Overstock.com Stadium just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Aside from the draft, it is going to be a boring day for the NFL. The NFL has decided that players can return to team facilities to resume off season programs on Friday at 8am. :scat:

Not really happy that the lockout is back in effect. The crazy thing is that this is just the temporary lockout to cover the time until the court can rule on the appeal. I hope your team was ready and got their 1st round picks their playbooks...and gave them extras to hand out to the guys from rounds 2 through 7 since the teams couldn't.

Overall, I'm fairly satisfied with how the Chiefs' draft went. :scat: Now if we can just get the mini-camps and OTAs going.

Looks like it's time to blow the dust off this thread. The lockout should end today! :scat:

Last week the owners voted 31-0 (1 abstention) to approve the framework of the new CBA. The one abstention came from the Raiders that didn't want to vote due to some verbage in the CBA about new stadiums.

Today, the 32 player reps will vote to recommend the rest of the player to accept the deal. After they vote, and it passes, the players will be allowed back in team facilities with training camps starting Thursday (10 teams), Friday (10 teams), and Saturday (remaining 12 teams).

Should be an interesting couple of days with free agency, getting draft picks signed, and signing undrafted free agents.
