The soundtrack to Jake Gyllenhaal’s pulpy thriller Nightcrawler is getting a vinyl pressing.

Composed by James Newton Howard (whose credits include Pretty Woman, The Sixth Sense and Batman Beginsamong other blockbusters), the largely electronic soundtrack is an evocative and oddly ambivalent foil to writer-director Dan Gilroy’s latest movie, which follows the unsleeping Lou Bloom (Gyllenhaal) as he stalks LA by night to capture gory crime scenes on his video camera.

The vinyl version is coming out on Bristol label and occasional soundtrack specialist Invada, adding to a long list of scores they’ve committed to wax in recent years, including Ex Machina, Solaris and Nightcrawler’s obvious forebear, Drive.

The vinyl will also have two different sleeves, with one matching the digital version (see that below) and another being provided by an artist who’ll be revealed later.

It's supposed to be released late summer, so sometime next month probably. And the artist designing one of the sleeves is none other than James White (Signalnoise).

There's still no release date yet, but the artwork has finally been revealed! I'm not sure what happened to Signalnoise (James White) designing it, but it looks like they went with Ben Holmes artwork in the end. Anyway, here's all the juicy details...

Version 1 on 'Purple & Yellow Splatter' vinyl, shown here, will be exclusive to our Invada web shop www.invada.co.uk (250 copies only) and not available in retail stores.

Mine arrived earlier... the vinyl itself looks awesome! The sleeve is nothing special though... wish they'd done a gatefold one, as the cinematography in this film is amazing, so there's plenty of cool images they could have used. Can't wait to listen to it later.
