Damn, this was going to be the version I ordered (because the spine is the right way round), but with that printed back I think I'll pass on a steelbook completely. :meh:

The spine is the exact same on the UK one???
UK's is too similar to the French Taken 1/2 steelbooks (boring, way and too pricey at £19.99... maybe for £7.99 I'd get it), French has the wrong spine, this has the printed back, which means I don't like any of them.

I think the French version is certainly the one to get, despite the poor spine. The UK one feels really poor in hand, far worse than the ES NFS steelbook which also features bare metal. Printed backs are a complete no-go for me.

The French version has all the text messages in the movie in French language on screen though so you'd still need to pick up an English friendly disc unless you can understand it. UK's is still the all round best IMO. It's not a bad Steelbook at all. I did pick it up for £13 when it first went live though.

UK is the best.
Other than the awful looking finish, poor artwork choices and hefty price tag :wtf:

IMHO at the moment buying the Amaray (considering the lenti slipcover) or renting the film is the best option.

Dammit! This was my safety net!

I'll leave it for a couple months and at least one of these will go down in price, be it the French or UK version. Due to the back of the German one, I'll give it a miss, the French one looks nicer but as you say about the text messages, will have to pick up a UK disc. Meh, UK amaray and French steel here I come!

Anyone contemplating obtaining the German Steelbook but concerned that this release will be similar to the French one, in having forced sub-titles and overlaid foreign text on the SMS messages, will be pleased to know that the German sub-titles are optional on both the film and the extras.

As regards the SMS texts, if you select the English soundtrack, the texts will be displayed in the original English. If, however, you select the German soundtrack, the texts will be overlaid in German.
