Ordered a couple of Batman steelbooks from Sainsburys, both in dreadful packaging, both damaged, both returned very quickly. Ordered from Zavvi instead due to their packaging

Might have to gamble and pre order through sainos or if zavvi can match the prices later on will have to be with them so I can increase my points :D

Ordered from Zavvi because of the packaging and early delivery. I had to wait for Django from Amazon till the day after release date even though I'm a Prime member

Find that hard to believe as the Batman steels have not yet been released and been all pushed back to the 24th. Theres one thing lying but another thing to disrepute a company on fictitious claims.

On that note.....i shall be going to my HMV on the opening day as i bet u any money it will be arou d the £15 mark.....what is up with Amzon lately and their overpricing on steelbooks....they are more expensive than anyone on the market.

Nah, my copy of Django arrived the other day in a cardboard mailer, still no damage though!

My copy of Willow was in very tight fitting cardboard mailer, which was inside a larger mailer. Maybe I got lucky, doesn't sound like double mailers are the norm then.

Sainsbury's price has gone up to £18.99 now :(

That was a quick adjustment by Sainsbury's. Just got my order placed in the nick of time then.

Prices updated in OP. Looks as though the extra £1 at Zavvi may be worth the extra packaging judging by the majority of comments on here. Oddly enough Zavvi let me use my 10% student discount on it, which is strange as it usually doesn't work on pre-orders

Amazon pre-order is live at £20.99!

Anyone else notice that the newer steels are starting to shoot up in price right out of the gate?

Skyfall (even as a brand new mega blockbuster release) was £14.99, then £17.99 on the restock.

And here now we have a single disc, non-3D, non-exclusive steelbook starting out at £20.99 on Amazon? What's happening?

In a weird way I'm sort of glad, at least when Sainsburys prices are roughly the same it makes the decision for me much easier.

Just in my experience I can only remember getting one steel from there that wasn't scratched, dented or the protective film scuffed/torn.

...and I'm always cursing myself for doing the same thing as the price always pulls me in, it's not until I get the steels that I regret having done so

It's like most places they can make the price that little bit cheaper as they don't invest on the packaging like some of the other retailers do, so it's pot luck when you order. I know many haven't had problems too, depends on how picky you are I guess...
