With North America just getting metal packaging, glad I have this on order at amazon. With price drops and VAT, total price including postage comes to £16.82. Way cheaper all costs included than the "home of steelbooks"

i hope doing a 2D-3D conversion works out ok when i try it out...we'll see:ohno:

The CPU time used by studios for 2D to 3D post-conversion of a film is probably measured in months.

The on-the-fly conversion performed by a TV or Blu-ray player sitting in your living room can probably best be characterized as an amusing gimmick ;)

The price on high quality stereo conversion for theatrical release varies in the range of $50,000 to $100,000 per minute according to several estimates.

Eventually, with enough in-TV processing power and the right algorithm(s), we'll get on-the-fly conversion that will be at least nearly as good as the best studio conversions, IMHO.

Interesting the topic of 2D --> 23D conversion came up for this title. I read an article where the director was talking about how he thought about shooting in 3D but ultimately decided that certain things he wanted to do (depth of field, facial close ups, etc.) wouldn't work to his liking in 3D, so he stuck to shooting in 4K 2D.

I would have preferred it if Oblivion was shot in native 3D, but it looked gorgeous nonetheless in 2D when I saw it in the theaters.

If the studio took the time to do a good conversion to 3D I would be interested, but I'm not going to hold out for it. :)

The US release includes the full score in glorious Dolby True-HD 5.1 Let's hope the UK Steelbook has that as well. If not I'm double dipping when the US amaray drops in price.

I am not sure where you are getting you info from but this is set to have DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 which is a big thumbs up from me as TrueHD 7.1 has had to many audio drop outs for my liking.

Taken from AVS Review

** It should be noted that the isolated music score (found in the bonus features) presented in Dolby TrueHD 5.1 exhibited numerous audio dropouts when played back through my Oppo Blu-ray player but played without issue through my Panasonic Blu-ray player. I have notified Oppo regarding the problem. This in no way effects playback of the film’s DTS-HD 7.1 Master Audio soundtrack. **

Isolated Music Score in TrueHD 5.1 (On US Blu Ray/Bonus Features)....;)

Bugger I have an Oppo BDP-105...So same problems as Total Recall regarding the TrueHD audio dropouts. :(
At least the film is in DTS-HD 7.1..:D
