Note about the steelbook - no embossing / debossing due to the lettering being too close to the edge, but it will have a special finish on the neon lights to make them stand out.

That's the same month the remake is scheduled to come out in theaters, right? So, whether it's a reissue or old stock, it looks like they're hoping to cash in on any new audience that might bring onto the original.

There doesn't seem to be a UK release date on IMDB, it the remake even going to show in cinemas here??

I'm sure it will be released to theatres over here - it's a Spike Lee film (Joint!) and it's got a major cast. Can't see that not making it to theatres here.

Just seen this up for preorder at Sainsburys Entertainment! So much for Play.com exclusive? Atleast the Alien Quadrilogy exclusive was rereleased in another country!

Dug this out for a watch last night and was quite distracted by the excellent artwork on it. I seem to remember a lot of people being disappointed by it (no embossing, perhaps) but I think it looks great.

My money would be on new old stock, rather than a re-print. The one that was released back in December was a PLAY.com exclusive, and we've already seen other SteelBooks that were previously exclusive to PLAY.com appear for sale on other sites since they pulled out of selling.

We all assumed that the Avatar SteelBook was sold out, but then a load suddenly turned up a few weeks ago from other retailers. Same for Iron Man and Heat.

I'm guessing that stock was probably held back by PLAY.com for some reason - Perhaps when the remake was announced, they decided to keep some back with plans to sell them closer to the release date of the new film

but wasnt oldboy limited to 4000 copies and sold out pretty much exactly on release ? how the hell could there be enough copies to supply amazon, zavvi and sainsbury ??

I really don't understand why this never became more sought after. In my opinion it's one of the best looking steelbooks out there (even without any embossing), it's definitely one of my favourites.
