Agreed. When it comes to this movie, Edge of tomorrow has "fake 3D", converted post-production. The 3D conversion did not add anything to the cinematic experience and was indeed gimmicky.

That is too simplistic of an argument. Look at excellent post-3D conversions such as WIZARD OF OZ, JURASSIC PARK, and TITANIC. Each of these movies are enhanced with 3D.

Bring on the 3D with this SteelBook release!

Guessing you missed the "when it comes to this movie". :)

I watched it in nothing less than IMAX 3D. While modern post-conversion has improved in the past year or so, it did not add any enhancement to this particular movie. Feel free to PM me if you'd like to further discuss this.

Back to topic, so looking forward to the artwork being revealed. :scat:

Depending how they make it, how much they invest post-conversion is sometimes even better than real 3D... some really suck it's true, but also the post-conversion that I was blown away was Star-Trek Into Darkness, watched it and was amazed... and there's real 3D which I didn't like like Life Of Pi, it was supposed to be as good as Avatar but it was a let down for me. I don't like ANY of the Marvel 3D as they ARE ALL POST-CONVERTION AND THEY ARE NOT GOOD, I just don't get it, it's MARVEL !!! Also where post-convertion works extremely well are animated movies. But in all you just have to watch it and make your own opinion. I bought TOP GUN which has the post conversion 3D disk and I haven't watched it yet, hope it's really good.

The Amazing-Spider Man was shot in Real 3D also and there is a little bonus feature at how they film Real 3D, it was very interesting. I thought the 3D was OK, some scene were really good others it was just OK, I wasn't crazy about the 3D.

Greetings from Canada!! I am fairly new to Steelbook collecting and finding these releases quite confusing and frustrating in a bit. Some folks mentioned this will be available in Target Canada. I had been in couple Target locations in my city and I have seen zero steelbook format. I'm not referring to just Edge of course as it is not out yet, but I do not think Target Canada sells any steelbooks at all. I am a little lost really.. Is this mean some Target Canadian locations does and does not provide steelbooks? Would be nice if anyone can confirm this.

Also, what happened to the Futureshop release? Just curious if anyone have any update? We are approaching nearly just a week before the official release and nothing on the website except the non-steelbook versions.. :(

Hey @Dan Welcome to HDN!

Target Canada DOES get steelbooks (sometimes). It depends.
Often Target will share their exclusives with their northern brothers. There has even been a couple cases where Target Canada got a different exclusive from the USA too... But we don't know until the Flyer comes out the week before to find out what we will get.

So by thursday/friday. We should know if Target Canada will get an Edge of Tomorrow Steelbook. Fingers Crossed!

If you are having trouble finding stock of Target exclusives in your area, that might just be your stores. I have had a few cases where stock was VERY limited. they only got 1 or 2 copies so if you don't get them right away, you might have to do some searching around.

As for the Futureshop Steelbook... I think that was canceled? Right @zerox39 ? I think their exclusive is just 25 mins of extra footage.

@kaw much appreciated on the response.

It's a bummer or rather unfortunate that we (Canadians) cannot accurately rely on our stores for these releases. Thursday/Friday just to confirm is so close to the release date. I envy the flow of information from our friends across the border. Bestbuy.com already have the Guardians (3D) Steelbook up for pre-order. Why can't we do the same?! sigh

Hi Dan and once again, welcome to HDN.

We don't have anything to envy our USA friends with BB listing info.. WE HAVE MUCH BETTER with our own Future Shop insider @zerox39 that bring us way more scoops and infos about upcoming products!!! :) :) :)

Haha, are you telling me to transfer to USA Best Buy? lol

You may not be aware, but in our premium supporter section we have a "ninjas housing ninjas" thread - where we have members who live in the USA offer to provide free room & board to our friends in Canada who would like to work in an exchange program, in order to show their compatriots in the USA how to do a proper steelbook release.
