Maybe the latter, but not Directors Cut ... unless just meaning we finally get those extra 10 mins in disc form. But if that was the case we are still waiting on that for h8 and django. Or the whole bloody affair, which has a licensing issue so dont think its gonna happen or it would have. *Shrug*

And reason I say that, is because with this new release Tarantino negotiated FINAL CUT rights to his film. So their shouldnt be anymore footage popping up at a later point for it to be deemed Directors Cut as he already has final cut. Which is what is currently causing a stir in China as the censors said he needed to cut some stuff to be able to show it there and he said NOPE ... I have final cut rights and that is how I want my film to be seen , or not at all.
By directors cut I did me just having those 10 extra minutes on disc.

I like that QT not only has artistic integrity for how he wants his work to be shown, but also has moral integrity to say no to China

There's not many people who can say no for artistic purposes anymore in today's landscape as Chinese ticket sales is monumental. So I do respect that he can not be swayed by the money to alter his film. And let's be honest ... if you are going to censor stuff in a Tarantino film, then it'll be some pivotal scenes that you censor, and then its no longer a Tarantino film. I cant imagine watching the last act dumbed down, it was the climax we needed.

Well if the theatrical version is the version that he wanted seen, since he has final cut, then why is 10 minutes being added?

It will not be on the discs. I dropped that gem like 45 days ago. :) However, it will find its way to another medium later. So was said. Which I think is simply code for Netflix just like how Hateful Eight had it. Tho maybe Sony will make the streaming giants bid for it.
Well that means I’m going to pass on buying it till they do it right. Makes no sense why they’re doing a longer cut and then not putting it on a disk coming more than a month later.

Well I wouldnt do that, it'd be the same as waiting to own Kill Bill if you only wanted the "whole bloody affair" lol. I'm not sure sure the 10 minutes is going to add something that changes the movie anyhow. Probably more character development.

Yeah I mean its only 10 minutes ....

However Brad Pitt has basically confirmed that there is a mini series to come. ala h8.

And, what might be of note is that the cannes premier was 4 hours and 20 minutes. Where some tried to scoff at the notion that he used that as a test audience. Never the less that is a lot more minutes then even this extended. So if this does come via Netflix like h8 later then there is even more that could be added. Like the Margot Robbie swimming scene shown in trailers but never made in movie. Word is there is a scene with Julia Butters that had it not been cut she would be a shoe in for an Oscar nom.

Annoys me that U.K. Netflix don’t have the hateful 8 uncut version. Still dying to see that

I wish he would just release H8, django and this as the uncut versions tho. Does annoy me. I’m not too bothered about the whole bloody affair because I can just watch vol 1 & 2 back to back and I would imagine most the extra scene are the deleted scenes included on the discs although I’d still buy it.

Only time I’ve know to have 2 different versions of one of his films on physical media is the Japanese version of kill bill vol 1 which includes the full colour crazy 88 fight. I suppose deathproof too with the proper version and shorter grindhouse full feature version which I’m not a fan of anyway. I always have to watch the proper version.

Heard about pitt talking about a possible series too. Would be interesting getting a Tarantino series and a extension of this

it seems streaming platforms offer more and more exclusive contents these days... Spider-Man: Far from Home gets IMAX enhanced edition over FandangoNOW... Midsommar gets Director's Cut over APPLE TV on 4K UHD (while in US only BD available for physical disc)... then this... :grumpy:

We're getting 20 minutes of additional footage on this release. In the form of an extra.

So my info earlier where I stated no additional footage on the main cut of the film to disc still rings true as the main cut for the release is 161 minutes ... ie. 2:41.

Original release run time - 2:41 mins.
Additional footage theatrical re-release - 2:51 mins.
Potential mini series re-release down the road 4:20 mins (if cannes cut) and if adding in fictional advertising like red apple commercial etc could be longer. However I bet QT slices it up different even then.
And at Quentin's theater he shows this with extra stuff at the beginning. I cant recall but maybe was the Red Apple commercial but I know its slightly different.
