How many people open their Steelbooks when they buy them or do you just leave them sealed.

So far i have 13 Steelbooks and have opened 3 i opened Angels and Demons,Inglorious Bastards and District 9.

I fear if i open my pirates and nightmare before christmas ones i will have to modify them to be able to put the discs in and not have them in a sleeve

I open all of mine because I only buy movies I like. When I first started collecting I considered leaving them sealed because I didn't know if anyone else was. Then I saw the extent to which other people tried to protect theirs as well and I decided to collect as more of a hobby .

I open all of mine, although I still haven't decided if I should open my Dark Knight JP!

I open mine when I watch them, regardless of rarity. I have many sealed, simply because I have not gotten to them yet.

The Play Iron Man was the first steelbook I kept sealed. I knew it was going to be highly sought after. But it was a steelbook to complete my Marvel collection. I had no intention to open it for I had the amaray. I ordered two Eureka steelbooks and they sent me the amarays by mistake, when they sent me the two steelbooks I kept those sealed and used the amarays.

I've opened up all the rest of my steelbooks because I want to see the beauties without a j-card. I may still open up the Eureka SB's but I'm not in any rush.

It just depends on how many versions I have of it already, what the steelbook is, when I've bought it and when I plan on watching it - I tend to open them as soon as I get them because I want to check the insides and make it feel more like mine (when I have things sealed on my shelves, it feels like they're not mine for some reason) but, if it's something that I might not watch for a while, I might not open it until I want to to put it on.

If it's something that I plan on using to trade or sell to a friend or someone else, I'll never open it - and neither will I if I've double-dipped and already have it.

When I first started collecting, I opened a few. Then I saw how much more sealed ones are usually worth, now I don't open any, unless I order 2 copies.

Slightly mad. Its like those people who collect videogames and keep them sealed. I buy steels, open them to watch (which is why I bought them in the first place) and then protect them in those resealable BR plastic sleeves. Its been expensive enough to upgrade my DVD collection to blu ray let alone buying two copies for 'collecting' reasons... besides I'm not wealthy enough to do that!

I keep 'em sealed and hunt for mint open copies to watch if I like the artwork. I got a LoveFilm sub so I watch the others eventually.

Opening them is a real private pleasure, but sometimes it's a disapointment discovering an hidden defect under the cardboard...

Wrapped or Unwrapped

So I'm pretty new to active steelbook collecting. One of my favorite parts of buying a new steelbook was unwrapping it and checking it out... until I started reading posts on here. It seems there's an awful lot of you out there that don't ever unwrap your steelbooks and now you've got me second guessing myself. So here's a little poll. Let me know if you unwrap your steelbooks or leave them in their plastic, and let me know why, so I can educate myself!

Fair enough. I wasn't able to find one when I went looking (there's a lot of stuff on this site!). Thanks for the heads up, Cizzar. I suppose a moderator should probably delete this thread. Sorry for the redundancy, guys!
