I would add, better customer service in the event of a problem. I'm a US customer, and the aforementioned benefit of not paying VAT is kind of washed away as one of our dollars only equals one .62 of your pounds.

You don't even need to be from the US, if you are an EU citizen this is the best option, Zavvi is more expensive and ships via regular mail and on crappy boxes and the rest of stores either don't ship out of the UK or do it charging you crazy prices. I am glad I got my Amazon copy, more peace of mind for me. :oohyeah:

Yep what dar said. I would rather give AMZ.uk my money because one they ship to the US two they have far better CS and three they don't up and cancel my order out of the blu.

Still disappointed there wasn't a 2D steelbook option...on release date there will be 3 different 3D options and only 1 option for 2D. The 2 special editions are both Amazon exclusives and both 3D...don't see what the point is. I would've bought a 2D steelbook easily, and I'm sure many others would too.

Those without 3D sets are missing out.
This is THE movie to buy a 3D tv for.
3D was made for this movie. The 3D adds to the effect that these are huge machines and gives you a breathtaking view on the big panned out scenes where you see the city and the robot vs monster.

At least they're trying to promote the 3D side of things. Think of it as a bonus that you're getting a 3D version of:scat: the film with your Steelbook.

If there was no 3D bundled with the Steelbook (like Zavvi do all the time) you'd have people complaining about that too. You can just never win! :(

I'd rather have it than not have it.

This movie + a bunch of other 3D movies are making me more and more convinced to pull the trigger on the Epson 5030
Grrrrrrr

Just do it. 3D on a home projector takes your breath away, makes me question the 3D haters. I personally have a Optoma HD33, I've watched Finding Nemo and TinTin 3D and was pretty much '' throughout both. Think Pacifim Rim will have the same effect :D

The reason I'd rather not have it is the price tag. I was glad with Into Darkness that there was a 2D steelbook option, and a 3D one. I obviously chose 2D, and those that chose 3D got the extra disc they wanted and alternate artwork. I wish they'd done a similar thing with Pacific Rim too.

It's okay though, I'm starting to slow down buying new release steelbooks. I've decided to limit myself to films I really want in my collection (Halloween, Seven Samurai, Nausicaä) rather than just always opting for it out of habit just because it's there. For instance I'm thinking of going for Nosferatu and Only God Forgives on amaray, but I may get Alpha Papa and Elysium as steelbooks.

I have a 3D TV, but I don't have the glasses. I have a feeling this will be good for 3D - probably one of the best, as along with TRON: Legacy and Star Trek Into Darkness it's the best 3D I've seen so far at the cinema - but I couldn't take it at home. Maybe it's just the people I live with combined with the setup and the fact I don't have the glasses. We have a few films in 3D (Avatar and Titanic came with the Blu-Ray player, and we also have Prometheus), but I've never felt the urge to go out and buy the glasses seeing as most 3D gives me a headache (both Pixar films I've seen in 3D gave me a headache, despite enjoying the film). Personal preference I guess.

But my original point was there's no need for 3 editions in 3D and only one in 2D. Would've been nicer to see a special edition (not necessarily steelbook) 2D version of the film for those that prefer things flat.

Go and get the 20 dollar sony 3d glasses for the sony 3d tv. I have them and they work on my sharp and my bros panasonic. If you read the box you will see they are universal. They are the cheapest glasses you can buy too and they work just as good as my 120 dollar official sharp ones.

They work 100 percent and cost less than even the sony ones they specify for TVS.

They say PS3 but work universally on all tvs.

Fair enough if you get headaches as some people are more sensitive to it then others. Im glad I dont get them while watching 3D at home or in the cinema. I would be sad ha ha Prometheus and Pacific Rim in IMAX 3D was the best experience ever. I got a passive 3D tv at home which is great.
