I think jimmyv the point is from my point of view anyway that yes it's confirmed here but why not on the site it's a selling point some others are clearly marked as 4k the fact that this and some others are not confirmed on the site is unsettling this comes from Aladdin 4k-5k increase.
also I think we all know that if it's not on the site then they are free to change it.

We can say "hey I thought it was 4k print run" they can say no we never advertised it as such if it's not on the site then it's not the case.
this is zavvi were talking about they continue to do these things. 1 disc basic editions, price hikes , (the game £24.99) & (IM3 £23,99) listing items taking them down and re-listing again, reselling oos items from there outlet store, bumping up prices on the last few magical stock that always appears from out the blue oh we just found a box full of these roger rabbits oops I know lets bump up the price and sell them.

That's just one example and I've not even got to the ridiculous amount of damaged steelbooks there poor CS which they say is better yet I see no evidence of this.
Now they can only be contacted by e-mail and we have vouchers that are supposed to work but don't to top it off now were getting a paypal surcharge as well my god.

I think i'll stop there you get my point zavvi has created this issue so yes people will worry and will question and so they should there's very little confidence with zavvi and we have witnessed too much not to question and verify imho.

they do change print runs.

Do you have any evidence to back this up? Apart from Aladdin which Wreck confirmed had it's print run increased, it is all speculation.

play never advertised 4k but then all of play's releases were 4k they didn't mess around with the run number you could count on play 4k no more no less.

Not strictly true. The Terminator had it's print run increased from 4k to 5k due to high sales. Prometheus had a print run of 8k and not 4k and the price made it the most expensive UK Steelbook released up to that point but I suppose that's another issue.

They did not list them take them down then relist like zavvi does play were consistent , reliable and there prices were great they did not bump prices up when they saw sales numbers or resell a few copy's at inflated prices.
the evidence speaks for itself I hope it changes and its not like they have to do huge things.

Anyone who was collecting at the time knows that Play.com used to relist cancelled copies after release date, similar to what Zavvi do. Oldboy is a good example. It was supposed sold out within a few days of the pre-order going live but come release date, it was back in stock and stayed in stock for a few weeks. They also bumped their prices up on occasion (Iron Man and Iron Man 2 were sold at £19.99 at one point instead of the original price of £10.99).

What I am basically trying to say is that Zavvi are no worse than any other company which has released exclusive Steelbooks. I'm sure if Play.com were still around and were releasing Steelbooks instead of Zavvi, we would be in exactly the same position as we are now except with slightly better customer service.

As I have said, the admins of HDN are doing us a favour by letting us know the print run. If you choose not to believe that information, that is your problem.

Content is entirely down to the fact that these are catalogue titles and catalogue titles are usually barebones one disc versions. This is not something Zavvi have introduced or something exclusive to Steelbooks in general. Zavvi haven't really hiked prices either. Yes their Disney titles are expensive, but I personally believe that it is down to Disney and not Zavvi. Their 'new' StudioCanal releases (Byzantium, Evil Dead, Olympus Has Fallen and The Place Beyond the Pines) are reasonably priced. Their catalogue titles are more expensive than what Play.com were charging, but they are comparable to any catalogue releases in other countries. You've also got to consider the fact that Zavvi can no longer avoid VAT by shipping from the Channel Islands and the fact that they ship Internationally for 99p and I believe that accounts for the increase from £9.99 to £14.99.

I'll give you that one. Their customer service is poor and I hope it's something they are going to start taking seriously and really work on. I can understand this complaint as it is based on experience and not on wild speculation.

This is one of my favourite modern films, as such I'll definitely be picking this one up. Love the front artwork, but like most people I'm not so fond of the back, still it doesn't deter me.

You have to wonder why Zavvi would not advertise the fact of a 4000 print run? If its true, why not put it on their site? I think there is an issue with transparency here. Make it simple, make it clear. (That's a shot at Zavvi and not at members who try to keep all of us in the know.)

Amen, Louis! The Zavvi bashing is driving me bonkers on here and I personally don't have the time to keep repeating the same stuff to everyone but appreciate you taking the time to do so :)

Sorry but your inquiry, at this point, makes no sense. We know only one piece of information at this time. That is that digitalbabe has confirmed a 4K print run.

Saying that Zavvi is hiding the print run (because of the off chance that maybe 4K is not correct) is extremely bizarre of you.

You are making stuff up.... out of absolutely nowhere.

How does my inquiry make no sense? I'm asking for confirmation from Zavvi's listing. The thread here states a 4k run, yet nothing on the listing confirms this, that is all I am saying here. It would be nice to know why. I'm not stating any facts here, just my opinion that Zavvi seem to be keeping some info to themselves.

As was mentioned, Zavvi are under no obligation to state how many copies are available.

Limited is such a generic term and really shouldn't be used as a reason alone to buy anything. Unless the item is individually numbered it doesn't really count for anything.

If you want to buy a nice-looking Pan's Labyrinth steelbook, now's your chance. If you want to simply buy a steelbook because only 4K of them exist, well, look for one where it's an advertised fact, that's all I can suggest.

I generally don't care about the numbers either, well not for the reasons others may care. I do like to get full information where possible though as it helps the decision to purchase or not. Not only that but if the print run is higher, the steelbook should be cheaper as price per unit drops significantly, especially for catalogue releases too.

Why does the print run effect whether you purchase a title or not?

If you want to own it, then it shouldn't matter how many there are. If you intend to resell it, then it makes sense to know how many there are. Or, if you hope for a pricedrop then you'll get an idea of how long it might be available for at retail price.

That said, there's still loads of titles available that had a 4K print run, simply because they're not titles people are interested in.

Because then I can prioritise which steels to get now and which ones I will wait it out (and gamble with). With the amount being released at the moment I simply can't afford all the ones I would like, so priority goes to the films I simply must have and ones which I have an interest in, may not be my absolute favourites but look to be selling well/lowest print runs. Also, the wait for a potential price drop is sometimes worthwhile too.

I just like to know what I'm buying. The more complete information available, the better.

that's a good answer. fair call.

Nice design, kinda looks like art for the back of the steel mainly because there's no title on there. But I'll probably get this since I love the movie.

My last plea!! :tear:
