Do you have any evidence to back this up? Apart from Aladdin which Wreck confirmed had it's print run increased, it is all speculation.
Not strictly true. The Terminator had it's print run increased from 4k to 5k due to high sales. Prometheus had a print run of 8k and not 4k and the price made it the most expensive UK Steelbook released up to that point but I suppose that's another issue.
Anyone who was collecting at the time knows that Play.com used to relist cancelled copies after release date, similar to what Zavvi do. Oldboy is a good example. It was supposed sold out within a few days of the pre-order going live but come release date, it was back in stock and stayed in stock for a few weeks. They also bumped their prices up on occasion (Iron Man and Iron Man 2 were sold at £19.99 at one point instead of the original price of £10.99).
What I am basically trying to say is that Zavvi are no worse than any other company which has released exclusive Steelbooks. I'm sure if Play.com were still around and were releasing Steelbooks instead of Zavvi, we would be in exactly the same position as we are now except with slightly better customer service.
As I have said, the admins of HDN are doing us a favour by letting us know the print run. If you choose not to believe that information, that is your problem.
Content is entirely down to the fact that these are catalogue titles and catalogue titles are usually barebones one disc versions. This is not something Zavvi have introduced or something exclusive to Steelbooks in general. Zavvi haven't really hiked prices either. Yes their Disney titles are expensive, but I personally believe that it is down to Disney and not Zavvi. Their 'new' StudioCanal releases (Byzantium, Evil Dead, Olympus Has Fallen and The Place Beyond the Pines) are reasonably priced. Their catalogue titles are more expensive than what Play.com were charging, but they are comparable to any catalogue releases in other countries. You've also got to consider the fact that Zavvi can no longer avoid VAT by shipping from the Channel Islands and the fact that they ship Internationally for 99p and I believe that accounts for the increase from £9.99 to £14.99.
I'll give you that one. Their customer service is poor and I hope it's something they are going to start taking seriously and really work on. I can understand this complaint as it is based on experience and not on wild speculation.
