Sorry if this is the wrong place but as it directly affects steelbooks (especially exclusives) in the UK I thought it would be a good heads up.

The news saddens me as Play were one of the best steelbook retailers. Their packaging and exclusives were second to none. I just hope someone picks up the baton........amazon I'm looking at you!

Talking about exploitating of loopholes, don't you think some of us benefit by selling OOS items but not declaring the income made in the tax returns?

If you are making over £4000 a year selling your steelbooks then yes, you should be declaring it.

I wish I was in a situation where I had to declare my earnings from selling steelbooks.

I am pretty sure that there are few who make a living out of selling Steelbooks. Invest a reasonable amount of money, buy as much as you can and sell it when it goes OOS making more than what you invested. I am sure this is legal and might appear immoral to some but this could also be perceived as an explotation of a loophole caused by items going OOS. :ohno:

Well it seems to me that the steelbook market for the early part of the year, judging by the posts in this forum, will be heavily foreign buys for me. Japan releasing a new wave, the Netherlands releasing a wave(although they may be IronPacks). Seems a shame that HMV or Amazon UK haven't taken up the baton so far. But....we are only two weeks into the new year.

the penny just dropped. there will not be a play.com bond series.
goldeneye will be the only bond from them.
and there will not be an iron man 3 play exclusive.
no 2nd wave of fox titles (i could almost smell independance day and kingdon of heaven, maybe castaway as play.com exclusives)
no predator 2, no uk versions of other paramount steels i.e eagle eye. disturbia, tropic thunder. i almost expected those to surface.
play.com will leave a massive hole.

It's a really big shame :(

I have a sneaky feeling we will eventually see more exclusives from Play in their new marketplace. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon! :naughty:

This is how my latest steelbooks arrived. It looks like it is starting to go wrong. I feel so sad.

Great. Don't tell me my Lawless will arrived smashed up and I won't be able to get a replacement? :(

Is there any bubblewrap or were they just loose inside the carton?

Hi Guy;s,

Dont want to sound like the Grimm Reaper

Only concerned about the people who are gonna loose thier jobs :( as the UK is on its A$$ as it is with the influx of Polish Imigrants ?????(i hear)

I was starting to get sick of hearing that Play was releasing another steelie every other day !!

It was like Germany all over again

And , on another note , some of the guys in the UK , have made some ridiculous profit from selling the Play steelies EEK!

I saw some pics of IM & the stack must have been at least 50 high !! and they were just being pumped out on Evil Bay like there was no tommorrow :hilarious:

So where does this leave Play.com for the Future ??

Has any reason been announced as to the closure of that Arm of thier business ? apart from that crap I read in the link about 15 quid items :(

TC

As I said in the Lawless thread, I expect Play are running out - or have run out of - their bespoke steelbook packaging, so I expect that for single steels they'll just revert to normal amaray packaging (card envelope) from now on.

I think orders of multiples are still being bubble wrapped though.
