Notes: Empire Online are holding another Steelbook design competition... See here for full details.
We're giving you the chance to design the cover for the Predestination Steelbook Blu-ray. Your artwork will be immortalised in steel - and available to buy from major retailers if you impress the judge, Ethan Hawke himself.

The Oscar-nominated actor will choose his favourite artwork for the Home Entertainment release of Predestination and Signature Entertainment will turn it into the steelbook cover of the film, crediting your name on the packaging.

You'll also win copies of the Blu-ray and a 10 film sci-fi bundle also courtesy of Signature.

These competitions vex me ... because so many great entries are made and the worst one is always chosen.

Does my head in.

Empire member heathbot has posted some really neat designs! :OMG:

I'd love this slip idea, but I can't see the studio allowing that as it'd probably be too expensive for them to make...

This is probably my favourite though, and he's even suggested embossing on this one (I doubt that'd happen either unfortunately)...

I can't help but think sometimes that the designs shouldn't be made available for us all to see. At least that way perhaps some folks wouldn't be disappointed and think.. "What if?"... if the winning artwork turns out to be a teensy bit naff. Heh.

Well, the competition is now closed and there's some really nice designs... let's just hope one of them wins this time!

This is a pretty simple but effective idea by shantydan86, and I like the overall design and colours too...

Just had a look at the entries and on the first page there are some really good designs. A few cr*p ones but some really good designs. One of them reminds me of looper. Along with the ones @Noodles has posted i also like these too.
Not sure what I'd pick out of the 6.
Think I prefer the 3 noodles posted (but only if the first one came with the slip so the colours change) and the top 2 I just posted

^ that also reminds me of nightcrawler

Anyone know why on zavvi's website the steelbook says it isn't due for release until 25th May even though the standard editions are available now?

It is because the Steelbook has not been produced as the artwork has not being selected yet.

I get the impression the steelbook idea was a bit last minute... the competition for the artwork didn't even go live until the 5th of last month, and people only had two weeks to enter. As Snooloui said... they then need to select a winner, get it produced and then shipped to the retailer (Zavvi).

Wow where are all these designs coming from?? Need more steelbooks with original art

Even though I thoroughly enjoyed the film I was thinking of giving the steelbook a miss as I'm not sure if it's a flick that will hold up that well with rewatching and whatnot... but I do like that artwork. Bugger. Heh.

I usually always pick steelbook
over anything but when I found the lenticular slipcover bluray only £10 in asda and out already didn't think it was worth double and to wait 2 months for steel.
