Hey guys and girls. I don't remember ever reading a thread about people's preferences on price tags. I know stickers are really important to some people and can greatly effect value (IE iron man FS and many others). But what about price tag stickers. Are they good or bad?

For instance I have multiple copies of the town FS. One with the price sticker and others without. Does it make a difference?

As I open all mine I don't really mind, but I remember when I got offered a Public Enemies I could choose any 1 of 3 & I picked the one with the price sticker on, I just thought it was more of a complete steelbook than the one without, I still wouldn't say it bothers me though :)

i added a few pictures to the OP

i hate the yellow stickers from best buy

the FS sticker is huge too...

definitely like the sticker on the expendables from germany better, and the one on the paul steelcase is super small

I'm not a fan of the price stickers. Also not a fan of multiple stickers. I don't mind one that says "The Towna" or something but I wish they would put them in the bottom corner if they're going to put them on the front cover.

Some of them remind me of the ball cap stickers that you never removed from your new hat.

If I ever sell a steelbook, then I'm going to advertise it with those Kitty sticker on there and said "only steelbook with Kitty sticker". I really don't mind accepting crazy money from people. Money is money LOL.

Yeah, and I don't mind accepting money from crazy people either! :D

Sticker or not, I don't believe it detracts from the value of a sealed STEELBOOK at all. Sometimes I just move them to the back for display purposes.
What I really HATE is a super-sticky sticker on a Slipcover:angry:.....
But that's another thread in a different forum.

I have nightmares about slipcover stickers.

Or even worse butt-ugly and irrelevant stickers on the actual steelbook case and not the wrap/foil, this is a bummer for those who wish to keep theirs sealed

The Future Shop tag wouldn't be so bad if they put it in the bottom left hand corner. The Best Buy tag wouldn't be as intrusive if it wasn't yellow. The generic tag on Paul is the worst of the bunch, imo. I would definitely remove it. And I think the tag on The Expendables is the best from an identification and size standpoint.

Not a fan of stickers myself. I prefer no stickers so I can enjoy the whole reason why we buy these metal things.:D

I prefer my steels without so I tend to remove them as long as they can stay sealed, but I can see both sides of the debate. ;)

The thing that gets me, and some retailers are really bad at it, is when they are super sticky and placed over the characters face. What is wrong with the good old fashioned top right corner out of the way? And you know they are aiming for the head deliberately!!

Then there is the sticker half over another sticker and you know there is no hope of removing the top one without taking a layer off the bottom one (which again is super sticky). :ohno:

Finally, the daisy chain of a security tag sticker wrapped 4 times round the steel and resembling a something like a boxing title belt. WTF is that all about?! I've managed to skillfully remove any I've had but it is sometimes on a par with tattoo removal to ensure the shrink wrap remains intact!! The irony is that if you do manage to get it off that the actual security strip as too risky to remove, therefore the tag sticker serves absolutely no purpose other than to wind me up.

Now I've got myself all wound up before bed time :p

Hate stickers. I could actually tell you about when, where and roughly how much I've paid for each movie I own. Gift and a curse I guess

REALLY glad this has been brought up,personally i hate all price stickers,as i don't open my steels.
so off they come , all the other stickers,i carefully peel off the front and place on the bottom of the back cover. this way ive still have them and the steel cover is clean/sealed ready for display :scat:
very rare, but sometimes they won't peel  ,it irratates me but im learning to live with them. :hilarious:

I open nearly all my steels, so I don't really care.

But when I keep a steel sealed there shouldn't be any kind of stickers, I want to enjoy the artwork, not some crappy stickers.

e: Even if I'm addicted to this hobby it's pretty hard to understand that someone would want a price-sticker on a sealed copy. To keep a steelbook sealed has the purpose of keeping it clean, it's a guarantee that there is no mud, no scratches, no whatever, it's keeping the value up (I don't like to buy opened steels myself, so, that's imo the reason why to keep a steel sealed). But price stickers? I don't get it.

My stickers are removed when I watch the Steel. I have many Steels sealed as part of my collection and some have stickers but I don't care either way as I buy to watch.

@ zoneism: Totally agree with you, what I hate with HMV tape is that they put it over the HMV exclusive and you cannot take tape off successfully without half of exclusive sticker coming off as well, and believe me I've tried on several. The Security tags do get easier with practice and patience.

FNAC exclusives are another, have 1 maybe 2 with no FNAC exclusive across front but complete with the exclusive leaflet but they have FNAC price sticker on back so I'm leaving them.

I don't see how a price tag sticker affixed in-store could increase value, IMHO.

So I wouldn't pay more for a steelbook/tin box/limited edition ecc that HAD the price sticker. :movie:
