Hello fellow Ninjas!

Don't know if you are aware of what's happening down here recently.

Since the beginning of the month there have been protests against the price rise in the public transportation. Here in São Paulo, the price went from 3.00 to 3.20 BRL. One of the protests mottos is 'It's not only 20 cents'. At the end of the day, that amount makes a huge difference for many people, since not everyone gets transit passes from the employers and pay for that out of their pockets. And it's really mnore than that. We are tired of being so exploited by the corrupt politicians we have. Taxes are so high that we have to work 5 months only to pay for them.

Sicne the first protest many people got arrested and injured when the police force tried to reprimand it. Although some protesters tried to spread havoc breaking things all along the way.

Today the fifth protest is taking place in São Paulo (peacefully) and many other major cities all over the country are being called to protest as well. We even got support from other countries such as India, Ireland, Turkey, Germany and USA.

Thousands of people went to streets of the major cities to protest not only against the prices in public tranpsortation, but also against the investments made in the Confederations Cup and 2012 World Cup. The government has been investing billions of BRL to build or rebuild stadiums, without investing in what's paramount first: education, health care system, security.

For those who watched the first Confederations Cup match saw that our President Dilma Rouseff was booed when Blatter 'introduced' her to the public.

Rumor has it that FIFA may even cancel the 2014 World Cup here if the protests keep on going, which I believe not to be true.

We hope to see a major change, a revolution in our country. Make our voices heard. Make the difference!

Is it because of Confederations Cup that's going right now and the World Cup next year. The Brazilian gov. is trying to recoup the money they spent. Cause hosting this events are pretty expensive.

It is more than that. It's for infrastructure and against corruption as well. Although the original purpose is to protest against the price rise in public transportation, it is taking other direction now.

They invested billions and billions in the stadiums, but left aside the healthcare system, security and education. Of course there are investments in those areas as well, but not as high as they were for the sport events.

Let's take Maracanã Stadium as example: the initial cost of it was 700,000 BRL, which is something high already. It ended up costing more than 1 billion. Brasilia National Stadium (Mané Garrincha) the same thing, and the field in it is terrible. Jerome Valcke complained about it yesterday, even some players.

Yesterday there was a protest in Brasilia and people got into the Congress to protest, you can search in the news sites.

Yesterday the sixth protest took place here in São Paulo and it was mostly pacific. Nut there was a violent part as well.

But today, the governor and the mayor announced that the price will go back to 3.00 BRL. YAY! Victory! Some areas will have less investment because of this, but I think eventually they'll find a solution.

Other cities decided to reduce the price as well, I'll post a list later.

Now onto other topics to be protested about!

That's a great news. But they might pull that s&!t again next year for the World Cup.
