Definitely one of the best pictures of the year and will rightfully be nominated for multiple Oscars in a few months. While Mark Ruffalo and Michael Keaton are standouts, my favorite performances were from Liev Schreiber and Stanley Tucci. Great performances with a strong story and script. I only ding this movie because while it's thoroughly engaging, it's only entertaining if you like procedural movies/shows. It doesn't bring anything necessarily new to the table, but it does everything really well and it hits a sensitive, ongoing problem in the right manner.

I gave this movie a bit of a biased bump because while this movie also doesn't bring anything new to the table, it does everything really good (like Spotlight). I posted some additional thoughts in the Creed specific movie thread. But I really enjoyed this movie for sentimental reasons and I absolutely loved the homages done with previous Rocky films, particularly the last fight.

Rubbish movie. I liked the first film and I feel the second as a response to all those who never watched the first movie but accused it of so many things (Even though very little is actually shown in the first movie) but the third I cannot defend, its just terrible.

I think this is a fair score for A Serbian Film - its disturbing as all hell but oddly compelling, this film played on my mind for days after I watched it

This is an excellent movie, but wow, the dialogue is exactly as advertised for better or worse. Its a double edged sword, so watch only if you're a fan or can understand/tolerate Shakespeare.

The End of the Tour - :ninja::ninja::ninja:
Decent film. The chemistry between the two leads was fun to watch... I felt like I'd been hanging out with them myself by the end of it. :p

The Seven Five - :ninja::ninja::ninja::ninja:
I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I did. Very gripping documentary! :wow:

Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse - :ninja::ninja::ninja:

I was close to giving it 2 stars as I found it to be quite stupid in places, but it was still pretty entertaining and did have it's funny moments (the penis scene had me in stitches!) :hilarious:

Son of a Gun - :ninja::ninja::ninja:

Nothing we haven't seen before, but I did really enjoy the action scenes. Oh, and Alicia Vikander! :drool:

Crimson Peak - :ninja::ninja::ninja:

Not really what I expected and the ending was quite disappointing... I was expecting some sort of big twist. It did keep me intrigued throughout though and there were some solid performances from MOST of the cast (I still think Charlie Hunnam is a bad actor.) :muted:

Didn't see a thread for this, but this is latest movie written and co-directed by Charlie Kaufman. It's a stop motion animation film that is incredible, especially if you're a fan of Kaufman's other movies. Don't let the animation fool you though, this is a very adult movie that deals with very human emotions. On first glance, it's a simple, paper thin story about a married man's business trip; but it really has some great depth to it's characters and asks deep questions about individuality and the need for companionship. Voice acting and animation was amazing; thought this was one of the best films of the year.

I'm half tempted to lower my rating to 2 stars for the prequel trilogy, as the fun factor is slowly fizzling out with each rewatch... maybe it's just because I'm getting older. I'm beginning to see just how dumb and boring they really are though, so the next time I watch them (which is usually every few years) may be my last unfortunately.

Minor ding for the repetitive story and last 20 minutes could have been improved. But Star Wars absolutely delivers as one of the best and most entertaining movies of the year. Additional thoughts in the Star Wars thread.

Very solid movie with great performances by Cate and Rooney. The direction, cinematography and costumes were perfect and really put you in a time capsule to this era. The movie does a great job showing the discrimination against gay/lesbian relationships, but I thought the romantic relationship between Cate and Rooney was too convenient and wasn't as realistic as it could have been. This was a very solid movie, but did not have any particularly stand out or powerful moments for me to absolutely love it.

Oh man, I'm not saying I expected another We're the Millers, but... at least kind of the same thing. But that movie was just one ridiculous mess of stupid jokes and clichés. One of the worst movies I've seen since Fifty Shades of Grey.. :(
