There are not words that can express the EPIC ton of stupid this movie is. This fails in every way a movie can fail. ("It was in focus" is the best you could say about it).
It deserves negative ninjas. So I guess I have to create my own rating for this abomination -
Ninja in Movie Hell:

(Remember when we laughed at how ID4 was a dumb movie (but fun)? That is like Star Wars now. This reminds us how blockbusters are getting dumber and dumber. How we a slouching towards IDIOCRACY level entertainment. Soon we will be watching OW! MY BALLS!: The Motion Picture)

Damn, I actually found it fun to watch. :D But to be honest, it seems that I don't know anything about blockbusters since we live in a world where that movie is somehow a horrible mistake meanwhile Jurassic World and Captain America: Civil War are the most amazing things ever. Those two are 1.5 and 2 stars for me.

I don't mind! Be my guest! I am only sad that we need the 'Ninja in Movie Hell' icon more often than we used to....
:naughty::rolleyes:
Oooo...SHOTS FIRED...at the whole industry

It's all good. As long as you enjoyed it, don't worry about whats a blockbuster is or not and who likes what. Life is too short for all that. :D
There are many movies that I enjoyed watching but other people [*cough* @C.C. 95  *cough*] would certainly deem them to be in "movie hell" :hilarious:

There are good movies made. But we just happen to be living in a movie cycle that is more about 'product' and brands and sequels than quality film making. And I always give props to any enjoyable film! I liked Civil War!
And I thought ID4 (the first) was a fun (though silly) ride of a movie. The new IDR makes the first look like Blade Runner. It was that bad.
But, if you enjoyed the film - great. Not trying to talk you out of it.;)

I know, i know, but now i reflect back on it, civil war is more....comme ci, comme ca :p Regardless, i enjoyed it on the first viewing.
With the amount of sequels and reboots going on, i have to agree with what you're saying.

I havent seen IDR, but i usually enjoy movies with alien encounters. Gives me ideas :coffee:

I LOVE alien/sci fi films. I will give them all a chance. But IDR was a staggring blow to the puss. It was like watching a Power Rangers episode. I did not expect that level of bad.
I liked Civil War because it actually (if you take the superheroes out of it) was like a 1970s action film! It even looked like the palette of a 70s film! Marvel meets French Connection.
It wasn't perfect. But I like that the Russo Bros. are not following the exact formula for how to shoot these Marvel films.
But, so much of our movie going experience now is fast food with empty calories. Most of them you forget on the way out of the lobby!! When "what" happened in "which" Marvel movies is like a blur to me.
If there is any upside, it is that when something original and fresh like The Lobster comes at you, it is like a glorious punch in the nose! "Oh yeah! I remember how movies are awesome!"
I love movie rides with explosions and SFX as much as the next person. But we can't live on a diet of movies that are empty calorie sweets. We need the Meat and Potatoes movies! Can I get a GlenGarry Glen Ross up in here?!!
Can I get a Heat?! Can I get a Se7en?!!

It's been awhile since I posted, so please forgive the long post.

Sausage Party - I was honestly disappointed with this movie, as I thought it would be way funnier based off the trailer and early buzz. It's very creative and profane, but honestly not very funny. It's sadly more thought provoking (i.e. idea of freedom and religion) than it is funny and that's a shame. Minus the ending, the best parts are in the red band trailers.

Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates - The trailer didn't do much for me, but this movie was surprisingly decent. Most of the leads are pretty unlikable, but the movie is at least funny (if you like crude humor). In terms of recent Zac Efron movies, this was way better than Dirty Grandpa and Neighbors 2.

Bad Moms - Again, I didn't think the trailer for this movie was good or funny at all, but the movie was also surprisingly decent. You can tell it was written by the folks that did the Hangover series and in the good way (Hangover 1 and 3). Way funnier than Sausage Party and around the level of Mike and Dave.

Suicide Squad - Similar to Batman v Superman, this had some good to great moments, but the actual movie wasn't very good. Harley Quin and Deadshot were solid, but the lack of screen time of the Joker was perplexingly bad and disappointing. They had the ingredients to make a great movie and they came up with a below average final product.

Jason Bourne - Disappointed by this movie as well minus the car chase sequence in Vegas. The Bourne movies are supposed to be smart and could act as a suspense/spy thriller and this movie wasn't any of that. I will say that Vegas sequence was worth the ticket price and the best in the series to me. My Bourne rankings: Bourne Ultimatum, Bourne Identity, Bourne Supremacy, Jason Bourne.....Bourne Legacy.

Star Trek Beyond - Pretty entertaining movie and a upgrade from Into the Darkness. The humor and chemistry of the group drives this movie and the action is good to great. Villain isn't horrible, but isn't memorable either.

Gods of Egypt - If you were to minus the horrible younger characters and their story and cut down the bad CGI, this movie isn't too bad. They have some creative concepts (i.e. gold blood, large gods, interesting creatures), but the overall story should have been simplified and the effects should have been taken out if they were to look that bad.

halfn-png.127233

Begin Again - Saw this on Netflix and thought it was really good. Ruffalo gives the standout performance and the musical sequences are creative and engaging. Nothing majorly wrong with movie except a tad predictable and the supporting characters are pretty one note. But overall one of the better movies I've seen recently.

Ouch, that bad huh? Well knowing that, i'm going in with low expectations so i might end up not minding it. :)

Lobster is on my list. I guess i should watch it soon.
Haven't seen a lot of movies from 2016. But we did get Room, Demolition, Triple 9 and probably others i haven't seen yet.

Yeah, I am VERY behind on films. The problem is, whenever I see a bad film, my instinct is to rewatch a film I like that I haven't seen in awhile the next time. Y'know- a Guaranteed good time!
When I recently got the Shout release of Manhunter, I rewatched that. Such a Great flick. I hadn't seen the theatrical cut in a while. It is one of those films that has about 5 different versions. And I would love to make my own cut! (Things I like from one, things I don't from the other, etc.).
I immediately wanted to slap in Thief afterwards (as it is the spiritual brother of Manhunter) - but alas, one has to sleep too!
*btw- if ID4 was a "turn off your brain" entertainment, IDR requires that you rip your brain from your skull and punt it into the next county....and (the other worst part) the VFX aren't even very good.
But I learned that you can be in a coma for 20 years, and wake up and just walk around, no prob.:bored:

A week later than we originally planned, but just got back from seeing this with my dad... good fun overall, and it was great to see Matt Damon back in the Bourne role! I found a lot of it to be a bit predictable though and it was so obviously an unnecessary cash-in film (Ultimatum ended it perfectly IMO), but I ain't really complaining. :D
