Robocop is an astonishingly brilliant film. So many great scenes, so many quotes "I'm buy that for a dollar!" "Can you fly bobby" "Please put down your weapons you have 20 seconds to comply"

I love the line "programmed for urban pacification"

This all begs the question. What the hell were they thinking doing a remake! The original was perfect......

And not to forget...

I have fond memories of watching this one as a kid (and being scared s***less by RoboCaine), so nostalgia is probably the only reason I love it lol.

@Lollard2002 @C.C. 95 What are your thoughts on the sequel?

Robocop 2 has a great last act but sadly it's poor compared to the original. Having said that it's a masterpiece compared to the remake. It's like they give up trying before the title credits rolled..... A contender for worst remake of all time?

I actually didn't mind the remake... I find it enjoyable for the most part and felt they added/updated enough to make it its own film. That being said, it pales in comparison to the original.

I really would have to watch it again. (I only saw it once when it was released). My feelings back then were that that they had no real understanding of what Verhoeven had done, and just made a straight up violent action pic with none of the sly wit, commentary and humor of the first. It was an ED-209 brute instead of a sleek Robocop.
I'll give it a watch again sometime- but my first impression left me with no urge to ever watch it a second time.
I think I was left with feeling that they pooped on something I loved.

That's exactly what it is, but I enjoy the hell out of it. :p

So the last movie I saw was Rampage.. But.. I didn't even finish. It was too horrendous to watch. The story was stupid in my opinion, the CGI was boring, lame and not even feeling realistic.
Didn't even continue watching it anymore because it was too much of an effort. So that for me is a 0/10.

Also saw Ant-Man for the first time last week - Definitely very surprised by that!
I'm honestly not particularly a huge fan of the MCU so it was honestly refreshing to me that this movie didn't scream MARVEL all over the place - It didn't feel like a superhero movie either for me.
I really enjoyed it though! Definitely surprised by that as I honestly had expected I would be bored by it. 8/10!

Also took myself to watch Ready Player One.
SO. MANY. REFERENCES.
Solid movie, very surprised too - was afraid it'd be a mess with too many references and maybe do it wrongly but I absolutely adored the movie.
Only thing I didn't like was the fact that they said at the beginning that an easter egg is a hidden secret that gives you more power.. Definitely not right (in most cases) so that was kind of a hurdle for me since it's a movie that's literally all about an easter egg hunt.
Besides that though, a solid 8.5/10 for me.

Robocop 2014 Three stars really?. One of the worst films I have ever seen. If there was a negative rating available I would give it Minus 5..... A complete mess in every department. A totally forgettable movie. I genuinely couldn't remember one thing about it once I watched it...The people responsible should be banned from the director's guild for crimes against film making.

So...just watch the Michael Keaton and Gary Oldman scenes?
And the cool parts! ;)

If it's genuinely one of the worst you've ever seen, then you need to watch more films. :p

I would agree with that mate. I didn’t think it was half as bad as people were saying. Not amazing but worth a watch IMO.
Surprisingly, I know more people who enjoyed it than didn't. If a film keeps me entertained for the majority of its runtime, then it gets a thumbs up from me! :)

Went against my nature a bit last night and watched Okja since it doesn't seem like a bluray is coming anytime soon. Not quite reaching the the top tier Bong Joon-ho material in my book but I do think it ticked most of the boxes we've come to expect from him, weaving between the farcical, hilarious and as always with a sudden twinge of serious heartache. At worst you can perhaps say some characters like Tilda Swinton's Mirando twins and jake Gyllenhaal's Dr Johnny are a slight leap too far into cartoon territory at times; just a bit too south and disparate from Mi-ja's side of things but in a way this is the kind of tightwire act Bong always attempts.. I guess you can't always get it just perfect!

Also the robocop remake didn't offend me but it wasn't a patch on the original on any level. :oohyeah:

in my opinion Disney has absolutely smashed it again, I don't know why it has taken so long for me to watch this but man what a punch to the gut! They manage to tackle some very mature topics which affect people on a daily basis such as depression ect and still make it loveable for people of all ages!

Cant wait to watch this again!

I'm a big fan of Masaaki Yuasa and his series The Tatami Galaxy in particular so I've been eager to see this film for a while now and it didn't disappoint. Feels like a very natural extension of the Tatami universe with lots of familiar faces and themes. Eye popping pastel colors, an affable cast of characters who all get their chance to shine and.. a surprising amount of singing that somehow wasn't terrible or self indulgent.
