I couldn't find a place to post this so I decided to post it here in the General section.

What do you guys do with the DVD's that you just replaced with it's equivalent Blu-ray? I started stacking mine in a box and I have no idea what to do with them. What do you guys do with yours? I mean is there a buy-back program or a DVD recycling center that will take them? I need to do something as there starting to take up space. Thanks

Well FS has a trade'n'save program at certain times during the year, so I trade some dvds in that way. They give $5 off a select group of BD titles for your DVD trade-in.

Otherwise I usually take them to a local pawn shop here and they give $1 per DVD or $1.50 trade value per DVD.

Also, you can use websites like goozex.com to trade in movies/games and they give you "points". You can then spend these points on other movies/games that you want that other people have traded into the website.

Cool never heard of that last site you mentioned. Honestly I only ever had about 30 DVD's in total. 5 of them I have given in at Future Shop in the trade and recycle program like SoD here and the rest are just sitting here. I guess Im just keeping em here to trade every time the program comes back from FS and they have a title at the price I want it. I mean where the heck else can you get $5 for a DVD, lol.

Eventually Ill give up and just give the rest away. The only nice thing I ever bought on dvd was the entire 5 seasons of Alias! And since its not getting a blu release Im keeping those 5 seasons.

Yeah $5 off is a pretty sweet deal. They will take ANY DVD too, I have even baught some crappy dvd's and the dollar store for $1 and traded them in to get 5 off. lol :scat:

I still have alot of DVD's, mostly TV Shows like Seinfeld, 3rd Rock, Trailer Park Boys, House, Office, Scrubs, Curb, Fresh Prince, etc. I also have 40 Jackie Chan DVD's, and about 60 other various DVD's of stuff not released on Blu-ray yet.

I am thinking about dumping all my DVD's though, as Steelbooks are my main focus now and I am running out of shelf space.

I traded in most all of mine at Best Buy during their trade in & save program. If it's one of my favorite movies than it goes into a double disc amaray case with the blu-ray. If it's a movie that isn't available on blu-ray, I "customized" the artwork to fit into a blu-ray amaray case so they don't stick out in the collection. The leftovers I just put into a discbook, the cases in a box, and the box into a closet.

Yeah the $5 off is the best at Future Shop. But you gotta watch out and see if its actually a good deal based on the price they have going for the bluray title you want to trade it in on. Sadly up until Blockbuster went bust, lol, I used to trade in there as well (blurays too that I didn't want anymore) and they paid decent money... but then that would explain the bankruptcy now wouldn't it!

Yeah I can see alotta' people keeping there TV show DVD sets for sure as TV shows are a quirky market where a lot of the older shows will never see blur ays releases. Heck new shows aren't even getting bluray releases.

But like I said I only had about 30 dvd's to begin with and one tv show set so not many. I have about 15 dvd's left now I think. I became my independent working self at the end of the dvd era hence why I had so little of them (Im glad, lol). I remember renting A LOT in the short dvd era I did experience and once bluray came around renting went the way of streaming/downloading and I became a steel book addict so now I just buy :hilarious:

I sold almost all of mine in a lot a few years ago, and got $175 for them. The only dvd's i have left are Dark Angel Season 1 & 2, Knight Rider Complete Series, G .I. Joe Complete Series, Chappelle's Show Seasons 1 & 2, Lost Highway, The Man Who Knew Too Little, V: The Original Miniseries, V: The Final Battle.

gohastings.com find one near you, take in and turn in for gift card ; then thank me later.

I brought them into my office and sold them to my coworkers. Traded some in at Best Buy's upgrade and save as well. Got much more for them this way then if I traded them in on amazon.

I'm in the process of getting rid of all of mine. I've sold some on eBay and another forum. Might give some to my younger cousins.

I like the idea of donating to a library, so if I can't shift them I'll do that.
