Nice, Sony, NICE! Spit out 4 RE Pop Art movies with actual cool artwork but forget to include the FIRST ONE![]()
Pathe own the first one in the UK, not Sony.
But whyyyy would they go down this path if they are missing the most important part of the franchise?
Doesn't Sony own all Resident Evil movies?
I'm really digging all these arts!!! Would love for them to come to USA and then get in a BOGO Sale like Salt and Hellboy![]()

I assume that when the first one was made as a co-production between Pathe Films, Sony Pictures and Constantine Films that part of the deal was that Pathe got home video rights in the UK.
Sony were involved in the production of both Ghost Rider movies, but only distributed the first one with eOne responsible for Spirit of Vengeance.
So, who owns the movie then? Production is one thing, distribution is another but owning the movie is my main question.
One thing that puzzles me, concerning the first film and people saying a different studio oversees that one so it may not get this treatment. How come Amazon Japan and Italy are releasing all five current RE films with matching artwork? (Milla J in front of different coloured metallic Umbrella logos)
In the UK Fox/Pathe own home video rights.
Because, as far as I know, Sony have distribution rights in most territories, that's why the US and Japan (I wasn't aware of a Japanese set) has matching sets.
In the UK, Pathe own the first with Sony owning all the others. In France Metropolitan own most/all of them. It's no different to other titles where home video rights are owned by other parties...
Watchmen = Warner US, Paramount UK
The Losers = Warner US, StudioCanal UK
Fright Night = Twilight Time US, Eureka UK
Repo Man = Universal US, Eureka UK
And so on.
