Missed out so far as our Belfast HMV who I had pre-ordered it from was being taken over by HMV-Ireland today and they cant find it

Such a sad day we have lost our last and only HMV :(

Looks nice, but ever since someone pointed out that fire hydrant, I can't just un-see it now :(

As for reversed spines, they aren't so bad because you can always just flip the case upside down when storing it on a shelf.

Is is "so bad". It's upside down. That's... completely ridiculous. Look at Ricster's pic showing the steelbook laying flat. The title is [literally] upside down. Also, if you store it upside down on the shelf, the MGM and blu ray logo is then truly upside down. How anyone in their right mind thinks this is a good thing to do is beyond me.

That said, I still have this on order and I'll probably keep it, because it's remastered, gloss, with nice artwork, for a decent price. So there you go. Gotta pick your battles.

You don't see the front cover (or the back) when there's a steel in the front and back of it while sitting on a shelf. And two, I know the movie's a ****ing bluray and frankly don't care what studio it is, so those logos are not relevant to me whatsoever, and I'm not OCD to the point where it'd bother me . I also own enough French books and international steelbook releases to have gotten over reversed spines by now.

What I don't understand is... you care more about the bluray and the movie studio logos more than a mixup on the art that truly matters, the front cover. Boggling. But you're right, need to choose your battles.

Fire hydrant? Can you point that out! Intrigued!

I do not know this movie well at all... so i don't know anything about a mixup of art to be honest.

Aside from that... whats with your overall tone. My frustration is directed toward the morons who flipped the title. Not you.

Ah, okay. I thought you were putting words in my mouth with the "who in their right mind would think it's good", when really, I don't think it's a good thing, but it's a compromise I am completely used to by now and not bothered by.

The goof up on the actual art (which may bother you are not, probably will since the logos do), is that RoboCop is sized incorrectly on the front cover... If you look at it closely, and look at the fire hydrant, you'll see he's nearly the same size of the building.

The spine imo really is not that big of a deal. I have no idea why people are fussing so much, you dont spend your time stareing at the spine so why be as bothered as you guys are?

:)

When you're looking through at your other SB's next to it it just looks weird. It's an OCD thing

I'm pretty OCD myself when it comes to the condition of a steelbook (and have even taken losses trying to get a perfect copy for some, thankfully, for my wallet's sake, it's something I stopped doing), but flipping the steel hasn't disrupted my sleep at night and looks far better than having the titles not lining up correctly. Actually, just minutes ago was probably the first time I was ever consciously aware of studio and bluray logos (decided to glance at them for probably the first time), and still, doesn't bother my OCD the slighest (couldn't care less about displaying Fox's logo properly :hilarious:). For American Gangster, I'd have to shine an LED and probably use a magnifying glass on it to notice that Universal's logo was upside down):

But yeah, they're just spines for me, and a way of finding the steelbook/movie you want to view. Also a good reminder that I have international steels from other cultures who do things a little differently... I'd try it first and you may notice it's not so bad... would probably be easier than trying to convince an entire nation to fit the same standards as yours in order to appease your OCDness... or trying to get this one recalled because of it.

All in all, the spine shouldn't be something that stops you from enjoying a steel, IMO. I'd worry more about finishes, outrageous prices, botched art, and well... chips, dents and scratches... But to each their own.
