I too am OCD mainly when it comes to my collection being in mint condition but the spine doesn't bother me.
I'm pretty OCD myself when it comes to the condition of a steelbook (and have even taken losses trying to get a perfect copy for some, thankfully, for my wallet's sake, it's something I stopped doing), but flipping the steel hasn't disrupted my sleep at night and looks far better than having the titles not lining up correctly.

I have this exact same problem. Which makes it really bothersome for certain Steelbooks (ie. Ted/Forest Gump - I can't seem to find where the back is not somewhat scratched) :(

But yeah, the spine doesn't bother me.

Anyone thought about replacing the spine with the previous play.com Robocop steel spine, that'll certainly sort out the 'upside down' problem. I may have ca go at this..

Actually, just minutes ago was probably the first time I was ever consciously aware of studio and bluray logos (decided to glance at them for probably the first time), and still, doesn't bother my OCD the slighest (couldn't care less about displaying Fox's logo properly :hilarious:). For American Gangster, I'd have to shine an LED and probably use a magnifying glass on it to notice that Universal's logo was upside down):

But yeah, they're just spines for me, and a way of finding the steelbook/movie you want to view. Also a good reminder that I have international steels from other cultures who do things a little differently... I'd try it first and you may notice it's not so bad... would probably be easier than trying to convince an entire nation to fit the same standards as yours in order to appease your OCDness... or trying to get this one recalled because of it.

All in all, the spine shouldn't be something that stops you from enjoying a steel, IMO. I'd worry more about finishes, outrageous prices, botched art, and well... chips, dents and scratches... But to each their own.

You could at least put the Wolverines together!

:hilarious:

To be honest, they were on separate shelves before the pic. They were being organized by time of purchase, and now the system's completely screwed up EEK!. I keep wanting to organize them all alphabetically, but knowing me, I'd probably damage a few in the process so I just leave them where they are. Besides that shelf, my other ones are organized by either genre or director and that's good enough for me.

I line up by studio as well. But also by country. So all UK's together in Studio order and then Germany, France, etc.,.,.

If the spine doesnt line up in the UK section, I'll just move it into the French section. Easy. :D

Germany, France ?.. Shouldn't it be France, Germany.. As in E, F, G , H and so on?
:hilarious:

The upside-down spine DOES annoy me. Now that I have this SteelBook in-hand, I feel more strongly about it. It's one of those things that shouldn't have been an issue, but someone, somewhere, deliberately made the decision to flip it

The designers probably knew it was wrong, the studio probably knew it was wrong, and we all complained about it as soon as the stock image was announced, yet it still went to print, and was still released WRONG! There's absolutely no other reason for it to be this way other than to piss people off!

I would really like to hear a statement from the designers / studio as to why this sort of thing managed to get approved, and why it wasn't corrected before going to print!

received mine today and i like this more than the previous Robocop steelbook

also looks like the spine slasher is back in town

I had a spine slash on two seperate copies from Amazon. Decided to keep the lesser of the two evils, as knowing my luck, I'll get a mint spine, but a paint defect!

The spine being upside down is not ideal, but not a deal breaker. I think we had enough warning it would be the case, so I made my peace about it, prior to ordering.

Got it today....Robocop Zavvi...

I received my Spanish bilingual version of Pocobor. Nice Steelbook. It's fun and educational. Nice finish, but they always find a way to mess things up. And they did a good job finally glossing something that could have been ok matte.

They must be trolling us......:ohno:

just seen this in HMV. I prefer last years steelbook. Will wait for the new amaray to come down in price then swap the disc's over

Wait for the amaray to come down to what? It's £8.99 or 3 for £20 in HMV

True. Wont go any cheaper. The only way is it'll appear in CEX for about £8 eventually. The old version is that price now.

It's a pity they couldn't have glossed the first Steelbook with the back art of the new one!

Did anyone else get two (quite bad) marks alongside the opening edge on the back cover? It reminds me of those EVIL DEAD marks that were on the Zavvi release :(

Glad I didn't pay full price for it.....
