No longer valid. NOVOBOX confirmed they sold the FuturePak project to MPS
Hey everyone.

I've been talking to Fox and I thought I should share something with everyone.
The North America Metal Packaging products that fox is bringing out like this one and the target exclusive titles are actually MetalPak and NOT FuturePak.

These are not made by the same company that calls their packaging FuturePak and used to call it MetalPak.

This is a new company "Multi Packaging Solutions" not NOVOBOX
I have written confirmation from the Fox marketing team.

Thank you

Now that's interesting as the samples that Rob and I have been given are FuturePak's and have been told that MetalPaks are no more

I think they sold the title "MetalPak" to this new company.

I'm having my Fox marketing manager dig in deeper. But he assures me the north american product is not the one you were sent by NOVO.

I'll get back once he digs deeper

Same here

Everything I've been told from a couple of different sources talks about the fact that MPS is the distributor of Futurepak in the USA, not the actual producer of it.

I think for us here on the HDN, it's very easy to see the distinct differences between the old design and the new design - which is the thicker metal used in the case (in Futurepaks) and the better tray / plastic.

However, if one were to look at the Futurepak design without knowing about these differences, one might still think it was a Metalpak - and therefore it's really just a brand awareness problem for Novobox. :(

Thanks to Matt, the in-hand pictures we have of the advance product clearly show what it actually is.

(and remember, the only design that has stood up to Steelbook has been the Metalpak / Futurepak design due to it's distinctive spine. Anyone that has ever made a competing product has been shut down due to their copyright infringments of the design patent held by Glud & Marstrand)

Looks great except for the spine. The steelbook spines look so much better. At the same time the way the spine disappears when you open a futurepak fully is nicer than an open steelbook...

I don't mind the spine but having BLU-RAY + DVD + DIGITAL HD across the top is annoying.

Alright I got official confirmation from NOVOBOX as well that this is a FuturePak

but is just the name they changed right? same finished material?

In some ways they are the same, but the product itself has increased in quality. The metal is thicker and even the finishing is much better. A few things that it needs to improve but in comparison to the old MetalPaks these are getting better in quality.
