I know what your saying and I am excited for this steel as its one of my favourite films but I feel there's far too many steels coming out now. It's like 5-7 a month which is a lot of money for people who want to collect them all (I also understand this is their choice and they are not obliged to).

Zavvi are a bit unlucky in that they seem to be the only real player in the UK steel game so they get the brunt of people who see all there steels flooding out.

In addition to the above, we keep seeing the same formula. At least some of play.com releases were multi-disc releases. I cant name a single Zavvi exclusive with multiple discs. Could just be me though :dunno: or they may be very few :emb:

4 announcements in the first 2 days of this week. More to come up next week. Surely this is a case of " too many cooks spoiling the broth " Just an opinion.

I welcome all releases, and am also a huge film fan so the problem is there aren't many that come up which I don't want to some degree, except crap like Transformers 3 and GI Joe 2.

But I just counted I have 11 orders already for October with Zavvi, meaning I simply cannot afford anymore. Not Zavvi's fault necessarily, they are trying to cater to all tastes, but clogging up the calendar is not the way forward IMO.

Very few of Play.com's exclusives included bonus discs, I don't think Zavvi are doing anything differently in that respect. Catalogue releases usually exclude bonus discs, that is probably something beyond Zavvi's control.

I think that's the problem. Zavvi are trying to please everyone and they have certainly released a wide range of titles, something for every taste. The trouble is that many UK collectors are used to being able to buy all Steelbooks released and of course if you're one of those film fans who is willing to give any title a chance or have a broad taste, it becomes very expensive very quickly. I think the only thing we can do is try to prioritise wherever possible. Applying for another credit card would probably be a good idea too :hilarious:

To those Zavvi haters id say to look at this as not a case of supporting Zavvi but of supporting the BFI who are a magnificent organisation who do an incredible job in maintaining the heritage of not just British film, but of film world wide and with such an incredibly vast library of films to choose from, if BFI's first steelbook proves successful then it could be the beginning of a range of exciting new steels

If you dont know anything about the BFI then its worth checking out thier website at www.bfi.org.uk

I was at BFI Southbank last night for an event where John Travolta came in to talk about his career and answer questions from the audience - in recent weeks they've also had James Franco and Joss Whedon to name just 2

And that's how you have a considered, adult, debate. Other threads should take note ;)

Well said. I'm certainly ordering this.

Saw Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell there recently with a special intro for the Peter Cushing centenary. Really good evening. Love the look of the steelbook as well!

Deary me. No one forces you to log onto this forum. In fact if you didn't, you wouldn't see the announcements and wouldn't get so annoyed. ;)

It would also increase my enjoyment of the forum not having to read the constant negativity (I have been accused of being negative in the past, but some members take it to the next level).

I love the forum and the people on here.
