erm, the scratches on the back arent part of the design ...right?

pretty deep scratches

Mine has a couple of very very light scuffs but they're not at all noticeable in normal light...nothing as bad as that though. Return it? Don't think I'm going to order Zavvi exclusives much in the future, but couldn't pass on this one.

Other than the minor complaints, this is a great steel. Very straightforward, and glad I have my first Kurosawa blu-ray too. I have a few on DVD but hope BFI now release some others. Will be annoyed if they do a BR boxset though with this disc in it, as it would've been pointless in getting this.

Looks really stylish, I always like the brushed silver look. Can't justify buying it though as I already have the Criterion.

I did, but decided it's not hugely noticeable and was probably down to the seriffed font they chose. Overall people are still picking at the design which is lousy criticism but yeah, Zavvi are terrible with delivering non-scratched copies these days - this is the fourth steelbook in the last couple of months to have scuffs or hairline scratches on...don't think I had that problem before from Zavvi so what's changed?

My copy arrived today with a massive dent on the bottom. Steelbook is trashed. Outside box was pretty beat up.

Totally gutted.

I'm happy to have gotten an undamaged copy and overall I rather like the design. The only thing I would definitely change is the embossing. It doesn't work very well with that font and it would have been cleaner and classier without it anyway.
