What we need now is a horizontal WORLD'S END to complete the horizontal Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy and a vertical HOT FUZZ to complete the vertical set ;)

Also, I'd be telling porkies if I said that the artwork fits better on a vertical SHAUN steelbook than on a horizontal SHAUN steelbook . . .

(1) ................................................. (2) ............................................ (3) ?

. . . but, nevertheless, it's going to look as lovely as the horizontal steelbook in its pillar box red livery, zero varnish finish and with its de-bossed title (http://steelbook.com/releases/shaun-of-the-dead-steelbook-edition/) and I've got to say it's refreshing that a charming Brit zombie film such as SHAUN is the first exclusive EB package chosen by a Brit company to be their first exclusive steelbook

Memo to EB: At some point I'd like the opportunity to buy a copy of just the steelbook by itself for under 15 quid shipped/taxed/all in please

But you hit the nail on the head there. It is far too expensive for what it is; a rehash of the original artwork, of an old film in a thin slip with a few cards.
With ludicrous postage compared to others, and crowd-funding to boot.

I realize they are small and just begining, but if they had studied the market better beforehand, and had chosen the most sought after of these: World's End, then it would be a different matter.

As an overall package its certainly not expensive compared to what you would usually pay for a premium package. Thin slip yes (when we say thin we don't mean the actual material, we mean there is only a steelbook inside the slip and not a booklet too, which is what some members were talking about) but thin is actually just standard, the only reason retailers had thicker slips is because the booklet did not fit in the SteelBook. Booklets are expensive and right now we would much rather spend this cost on finishes to the slipcases than a booklet, that 90% of the time is looked at once. As we said, if we have huge demand for a booklet we will deliver.

Postage has had some errors to certain countries and we are working on those now. We certainly did study the market and started at the beginning of the Cornetto Trilogy. As a new company you do not walk in to a studio and get what you want, wish we could but we didn't. We were offered a number of titles and Shaun was the best start for us in many ways including being able to complete the trilogy. It's the bigger picture that must be looked at here.

Lastly, "crowd-funding to boot" we have not placed any crowd funders nor are we waiting on orders to be able produce the goods.

Thanks.

They were challenged on the slip some time ago (not by me)

Yes, I'm in the Uk, but I was thinking of the wider picture regarding postage.

I still think more research and a wiser choice for a No. 1 would have yielded longer-term benefits.

I don't think that's unduly harsh.
As I had drummed into me some considerable time ago, there are three keys to success: Preparation, Preparation and Preparation . . . . . . .

Whatever, I still wish them well. Especially in the UK's present volatile state.
Hello,

We don't recall anyone challenging us about our killer klowns slipcase. Maybe something that was not directly passed to us but maybe was put here on the forum. However, across the board people were pleasantly surprised about the quality we use for our slipcase.

As for preparation, 7 months Shaun as been in talks with Universal (and thats after initial meetings) and as no other retail in the UK has the setup we do with Studios here that certainly was all preparation.

Thanks again for your comments.

Much as I'd like to support this company I've reluctantly decided not to go for this in the end. Thirty quid is just too much when the steelbook isn't different enough from the one I've got, plus the narrow slip which falls into the crack between gimmicky and premium for me. Wish I felt otherwise.

How's the sales going @EverythingBlu ? As good as expected?

What's the quantities left ?

Fair play to you.

I backed out of the HDz/BluFans madness long ago and never felt bound to buy everything Nova and Kimchi throw up; and only bought the first, grossly overrated and over priced Manta.

Sure we need a British premium producer - truth told it should probably be HMV as they are the only one really big enough and have the experience. But, in the present climate not many people are feeling brave. Once status quo is resumed here, I expect HMV may indeed dip a toe in the water.
All other UK retailers will never put in the resources to be designing exclusive SteelBooks.

We are seeing very steady sales after the initial rush. IF the average sales per hour continue we will be seeing a sell out in a few weeks. We understand the time of pre-order may be affecting some people ordering so if stock is still there at payday we expect some more orders to come in. Also, we hope to show in hand shots of BOTH slipcases shortly. As we have mentioned before, the full slipcase is featuring 5 different finishes so we are working very closely with the printers to get it right. We would hope in hand shots improve the sales of the full slip as so much has gone in to that edition to try and make it as premium as our lenticular edition.

Thanks for your interest & purchase (if you did)

We are interested in the people using the term thin for the slipcase. Can we just confirm you mean thin as in, it doesn't have a booklet to make it wider? Rather than thin material used?

As people have said about o-ring slips, it is a little wide than these slips. The material is double walled (folded) just like a full slip from Asia that holds the booklet, whereas we know the o-rings are single piece of material much like a J-Card for example.

As we said, we are here to listen to the community, we're not expecting to come out the gates with everything answered but are here to listen, to give options to the community and really put out there some editions that we have ALL had some part in influencing.

Thanks

Could someone help us please and put the link to the poll of movies suggested please?

We would like to add some to it if possible that have been suggested to us as well.

Thank you.

Yeah, would like that link myself.

Wouldn't mind seeing some more UK Working Title titles like Bridget Jones, Love Actually, Notting Hill etc.....get some loving eventually. Something a little different from the norm........

I used the word 'narrow' as opposed to 'thin' deliberately as I wouldn't presume to question the quality of the slips having not bought one. You're right though- it's the lack of booklet and hence the chunky premium feel of the package as a whole that swung it for me. Had it been new artwork or a movie I didn't already own I would've gone for it though. Sorry; I really do wish your company all the best.

Our apologies for using the term thin.

We do find it interesting that a slipcase with a booklet being only 1mm-2mm wider than our slipcase would make it feel anymore premium. We will certainly look into that and see what we can do going forward.

Thanks again for your comment and your best wishes.
