***SHIVERS Update***

We are currently looking into this issue and hope to have an update very soon. Just to clarify, our release of Shivers contains a new restoration personally supervised and approved by Director David Cronenberg and which was produced by Tiff Cinematheque Quebec at Technicolor in 2013.

We are unsure as to the reasons why part of Shivers appears to have been shortened except that it doesn't appear to be the results of any conscious act of censorship, as many similar scenes would have been removed as well if that were the case. It may have been Cronenberg's decision to excise this material due to damage to the original materials used, but at this point that's only speculation on our part.

Unlike Zombie Flesh Eaters, this isn't the result of an authoring or encoding error, as there is nothing technically wrong with our disc. Unlike many of our releases, we weren't in any way involved with the restoration of this film, so we're having to direct our questions to those who oversaw it. Just to reiterate, we are making enquiries to all the parties involved and hope to have a definitive answer to this very soon.

We’ve receive a fair few queries about the progress of this. First up, we can only apologise that it is taking far longer than we originally anticipated. We were very much hoping the situation would be resolved by the New Year but sadly this was not the case.

So, the good news is we will be running a replacement programme for this one so if you have purchased a copy of our release do keep hold of those proof of purchases!

The bad news is, we don’t have an exact timeline for this and at present it does look like this will be a bit of a way off. Unfortunately we're in the hands of TIFF who have their own schedule and Shivers isn't a priority for them at present. We are doing all we can to apply pressure and try and speed things up but sadly there isn't too much we can do. We believe that they are scanning another element of equal quality to the restoration they initially performed so this is what we are waiting for.

We could have cut in the SD elements we have - we have tested that and it looks fine - but knowing that higher quality work is underway, has made it very difficult to simply settle for SD inserts. If we'd know we'd all be waiting 5 months maybe we would have stuck with the SD option however we really want our Shivers release to be the best release possible and not simply a quick fix.

As mentioned we are working hard to keep things moving and we really appreciate all of your patience and support whilst we try and reach a suitable solution. As soon as we have a concrete update on the situation we will widely publish this so do keep checking back!

You will have to deal with Arrow Video directly and not the retailer your purchased from
You will need proof of purchase an in copy of your receipt
Your Despatch email or copy of order details will be proof of purchase if your ordered on-line

Customers who ordered direct from Arrow Films website store are been sent the replacement Discs automatically and a lot have already received delivery Today

Note
Arrow Video Should be posting soon on Facebook and Twitter info in regards to how to get the replacement disc for customers who ordered from Amazon/Zavvi/Hmv etc

You will need proof of purchase
If your ordered on-line a copy of invoice should be enough but I'm sure they will have exact details in the info they post how to get your replacement disc

They might be posting the info later today or tomorrow I will post the info as soon as I see it

We will have a dedicated replacement form you will need to fill to obtain a new disc

So please hold off from sending emails with receipts etc as these will not be processed and you will simply be advised to fill in the form once it goes live.

The time has come – our replacement programme for SHIVERS is now open! So here is quite a lot of information to communicate to you guys so please make sure that you read all of the relevant parts of this post to avoid any confusion. We have also included a handy FAQ at the bottom of this post which should answer any queries.

So first up, if you’ve ordered a copy of Shivers direct via the Arrow Store skip down to the ***DIRECT ORDERS VIA THE ARROW STORE*** section. For anybody who has ordered elsewhere (be it online, in store, at a convention/event etc.) please continue reading.

Once you’ve filled in the form successfully you will receive a confirmation email that your discs will be dispatched. Q: How do I get a copy of my replacement discs for SHIVERS?
A: If you have purchased your copy of SHIVERS from the Arrow Webstore, your replacement discs have been dispatched automatically with the information we have in your Arrow account. If you have not received your disc by April 18th, 2016, please contact [email protected].

If you have bought your copy of SHIVERS, whether the regular Arrow Video dual-format edition or the SteelBook edition from another outlet, please fill out the form here: http://bit.ly/1RR2g4W Once you have provided your mailing address and your proof of purchase, we will send you a confirmation email that your replacement discs have been dispatched.

Q: What if I no longer have my proof of purchase?

I forgot all about this. My discs were waiting for me when I got in today. I wonder how cut it actually was.

Hasnt this happened to arrow a few other times in the past?
Only 4 releases before where they had to do replacement discs as far as I can remember
Zombie Flesh Eaters/The Beyond (First Release slipbox version) and Theatre of Blood

In USA only Blood Rage the DVD needed a replacement Disc
UK release was OK

Theatre of Blood was minor problem
1 of the extras with a sound/video sync problem
The film and other extras was fine no issues
The extra was a short one and not that big off an issue to be honest

There might have been another release from years ago but I will have to check what that was

I ordered the SB direct from Arrow, and my replacement discs arrived the same day as the email saying they were on the way. Whatever Arrow's problems (and there are some), they handled this beautifully.
