Word of caution from an UK HDN Member about HMV (thanks VRob98)

HMV now in administration said:
People should just be aware of 2 things:
1) If you receive a damaged or faulty copy from now on, you will not receive a replacement or refund
2) If they charge your card and are then unable to fulfil your order, you will not be refunded.

The way a company operates whilst under administration is quite different to how it operates normally, and certain consumer rights are suspended. If anything goes wrong you would have to apply to the administrator or claim against your credit card issuer.

I'd encourage everyone who has orders in with HMV to consider the above, as I'd hate to see anyone here lose their money in all of this.

So surely only a matter of days before this goes up for pre-order again on other sites like Amazon or Zavvi? What with Looper now on both sites and Zavvi getting Lawless (somehow).

I'd imagine negotiations are taking place if not finished already. They are probably already printed and ready to be shipped, doubt they just dump them all in the nearest landfill.

I've literally just sent Amazon UK a message enquiring if they'll be getting the Skyfall Steelbook. Just need to wait and see if they reply now.

Well, I got a reply from Amazon UK which didn't really answer my question of:

"Now that you have for sale/ pre-order the previously HMV Exclusive "Looper" Blu-Ray steelbook, will you be doing the same for the other HMV Exclusive "Skyfall" as your French and German sites currently have it?"

Their response:

The item you have mentioned - "Looper" – is currently out of stock and I can’t guarantee if it will be sold by us. Because of this, the item is currently not listed on our website.

As you've noticed, there is some crossover between the Amazon catalogues, with some items being available for order at more than one of the websites.

At Amazon it is our goal to offer you the best selection at the best prices, regardless of where you live. However, copyright law prohibits the selling of foreign editions when a local publisher has acquired the rights to that item.

If you can't find what you are looking for at the present time, you may want to check back on our website again in the future, as we are adding to our catalogue all the time.
:wtf:

I replied that for a title that's out of stock and not listed, they have a placeholder and price for it and repeated my question again.

I've also noticed that they have another listing for Skyfall (no artwork and 1 disc) here

Everybody just hold their horses, HMV is in demand now, there are lots of buyers looking to take them over, give them a week or 2 to sort out the paperwork and they'll be back online, relax everyone

Taken from the Blu-ray.com forums. Make of it what you will. I've emailed the Hut as well asking if they are going to be stocking it:

I don't work for them but someone who was layed off by the original Zavvi has (apparently) being informed that they are selling around 75% of HMV's Skyfall steels. They have been given correct information in the past so I'm willing to believe them.

It does sound like a' Zavvi thing' though because they often buy in smaller quantities.

Personally I'd like to know where the other percentage will be going.

I've used zavvi/ hut for a good while and never get all the bad press chucked at them. I've never had any issues, yep delivery is a little slow but for some of the deals I've picked up I can live with that, plus numerous 10% discount codes through the year I'm happy.

P.s this is one sexy looking steelbook hope we have some news soon.

Member Nyvo said he tweeted them and they said they may be looking into other packaging methods. We'll see...

That sounds promising. All they need to do is have a look how successful Play.com's releases have been to realise how lucrative this market can be for them. They make lots of money, we get lots of nice Steelbooks, everyone is happy
